Inside QVC: Who makes the graphics you see on QVC?

Anything GoesThere's a lot of creativity involved in bringing you the most eye-catching and informative promos that you see before, after and during your favourite QVC shows.

We caught up with Marc who is our Broadcast Graphics Manager at QVC to find out a little bit more about what the graphics team does at QVC…

'I am the Broadcast Graphics Manager at QVC and my teams include the Motion Graphic Designers as well as Production Graphics staff that look after the content of our on-screen graphics during shows.

My Designers are always looking for new and exciting ways to promote the events and products that our Promotions Producers have been asked to advertise. In fact, all of the graphic elements you see on our promotions would've been created by the designers!

Great examples of our work can be seen on the Around the World in 80 Gems, European Tour, Canon demo and Anything Goes promotions to name but a few.

We even have a department blog where we offer examples of our own favourite pieces of work, see it here:

As you can see diversity is key to our work and to be able to produce so much in such a short space of time means no two days are the same. Before we start any designs, we normally have brainstorming sessions which are quite fun as this gives us the opportunity to break out of our usual routines to discuss ideas for the project with members of the Marketing, Internet and Sets teams.

The goal is to make sure that we fulfil the brief and supply work to these departments so the project or campaign has a consistent look on air as well as in print and online, well in advance of the air date. For example, we are already in the process of creating ideas for our Christmas 2013 campaign, in February!

In addition to the designers, the Production Graphics team makes sure that all information pertaining to products and events in our shows is used to engage and inform you to help deliver a great viewing experience.

We know that our supporting graphics such as customer reviews, contents, instructions and especially measurements is important to you before you can consider making a purchase. So our Production Graphics team works closely with the Co-ordinating Producers to get these vital details into our on-screen graphics system.

Some of you may know that we refer to our product graphic as the L, because, yes the shape resembles the letter L! We are planning to introduce some exciting new features to this in the near future so we'll be able to offer you even more product information, so watch this space!

I'm fortunate to have such a diverse range of creative minds in the department. Everyone is encouraged to contribute new ideas to shows and events to help make them more engaging so creative thinking is a big part of our working day. In fact, our pursuits outside of work include being a music producer, script writer, illustrator and artist!'

If you enjoyed finding out more about the graphics team, we've got more behind the scenes roles to share with you! We caught up with our Senior Director, our front desk staff, our Promotions Supervisor and one of our Set dressers to find out more about their roles at QVC!

Guest presenter – a day in the life and preparing for the live show. How the guest presenter prepared for the show and train via earpiece – making earmould etc… It would be interesting if it is a newcomers guest presenter or well known person, very experience i.e. Liz Earle or Richard Jackson.
