This week I got to cuddle little Evie Jessica Flint – the 16th granddaughter for my mum! See below for what happened to make her go to sleep!
Skydiving with Gill Gauntlett – Indoors
OMG what good fun we had! And how tough it was on the muscles – we could hardly walk for a couple of days afterwards! Yes, for Gill’s birthday I got her a voucher to go to Airkix in Milton Keynes, for a short session in their indoor wind chamber which makes it feel like you’re free-falling. It’s harder than the experts make it look, that’s for sure! At the end of last week, we rendezvoused at sixteen hundred hours, put the clobber on, and watched the training vid. Then it was up to the gallery!
Gill went first, and I went second. We had a group of school girls in the same party as us, and it didn’t help that one of them abandoned after a few seconds in the chamber, saying she felt sick and couldn’t breathe! The instructor said ‘get your chin up’ as that way you avoid too much rushing air going down your throat! My heart did pit a pat, but I love pushing back the barriers and doing something different – hence my regular TiFFTs* – and this was one of the best! Check out our two videos – and watch what the wind does to my cheeks!

This was off the DVD that they gave us to take away – there was no music when we were ‘flying’ – just a huge rush of air, despite wearing ear plugs!
http://youtu.be/EuTiy0YVOw0&rel=0
That was my first one minute session – we all had two. The second one was when I was more tired – it’s amazing how much it takes it out of you! It felt absolutely brilliant to be actually ‘flying’ in the air, and the slightest movement of the hands or legs took you one way or the other.
It’s like those dreams – have you ever had them? Where you end up trying to fly? And sometimes you just can’t get off the ground? Fortunately for me and Gill they turned up the volume of the airflow, to support our weight! Lol. Anyway I loved it so much I immediately bought (at discount) some more vouchers for Christmas presents and another go for me – 4 one minute sessions this time. Will go in the new year probably – by that time I’ll have forgotten how much my bottom ached! More from airkix here.
Meet the 12th Granddaughter!
Awwww! Bless little Evie Jessica! Had a quick trip down to Kent this week to see my lovely sis in law Amanda panda, brother Derek (he’s the copper,) and their new three day old baby. Ahhh it took me back! I helped wash her hair, which she loved, bless her, (with Liz Earle shampoo – no SLS), and had a nice cuddle. There was only one moment when she began crying!
She is really doing well – breast-feeding fine and sleeping ok. Little bit yellow atm, but nothing major. Here’s a little clip of her – isn’t she adorable? One use for a hairdryer! Lol!
http://youtu.be/Mp4T2Iwms6A&rel=0
That’s my mum with me and Evie in the top pic too. Evie is her 16th grandchild, aged three days – the eldest ones, Ricky and my son Brad, being 27-28 years old, may well be having babies themselves soon! But not too soon, I hope. And no, it didn’t make me broody holding baby Evie. I’m bad enough with Lauren’s pog, crazy spaniel Baloo, mollycoddling her, so goodness knows what I’d be like with a proper grandchild of my own! I wonder which one of you was the youngest grandmother, who has the most unusual named grandchild, and who has the most grandchildren? Leave me a comment below!
Just have to share with you the early Christmas pressie for my brother which he opened when I was there – here’s Derek doing a ‘Charlie Brook’ – with one of the hats I bought from QVC when Charlie wore them (see blog a couple of weeks back) – funneeee! That should entertain the baby come Christmas – it certainly entertained us!

Winner of Liz Earle competition
Congratulations to Christy Beckett who won the ‘Gift of Good Skin’ bundle of fabulous Liz Earle products, and a copy of my paperback book Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0. BUT as so many people said it was the book they most wanted, I’ve drawn an extra runner up to get the paperback version of my semi-autobiographical weight loss book – chosen at random from those who wanted it – and that’s Emily Knight. Just let me know whom you’d like me to sign it to, Emily!
For anyone else wanting to get it, you can find out how, by clicking here. Plus, if anyone wants to buy one and have me sign it, send a copy direct to me at QVC, 566 Chiswick High Road, London W4 5XU and email me your address (debbie@debbieflint.com) and whom you’d like it signed to. I’ll do my best to get it back to you by return! Another way to get a gift for Christmas sorted out for a loved one – specially one who is driven mad by dieting and food. Or drives you mad! Lol.

Hi Debbie, my grandson is called Lennon as a) my son is mad on the Beatles and, b) he is mad on Oasis.
Obviously there was John Lennon and one of the Gallagher brothers’ son is called Lennon and that made it the perfect name for his son too.
