It really felt like the summer was back this week, not just because of the weather, but also because of the pretty Coco Bianco maxi dress offer. Lovely Jessicajay looked very summery, and I covered myself in fake tan to do the same! 🙂
If you are looking for a maxi dress, trust QVC, we do so many. Go here, for not just Coco Bianco – although they have many – and arrange the order from ‘prices low to high’ in the drop down. Some of them are really low priced, incredible offers – some if there is just one size left, or under £20! Here are just a couple of examples, on the left is the Jolie Moi Leah dress, and on the right is Lauren dress from Onjenu London.
I particularly liked the neckline on the one Jessica and I were wearing, it was very pretty, and of course this stretchy fabric is fab.
I ordered a maxi dress from the Coco Bianco range on the same day it has a lovely cut, and really flattering. I will almost certainly be wearing it on air! Look out for it 🙂 go here to see all the Coco Bianco maxi dresses we have.
Obviously almost everybody feels better when they are all a little bit tanned, don’t they? Well as you may know I can’t really stay in the sun because of my peculiar skin thing (a rare DNA condition called EPP.) well, I must recommend the Gatineau Golden Glow Gradual Tan. You can also rely on the fabulous brand Tan-Luxe, their tanning milk for the body is one of the best I’ve tried. And of course, you can’t go wrong with Decleor’s Gradual Glow. We have so many options!
For instant colour though, my old faithful go-to tan solution, is Laura Geller’s Baked Body Frosting in Hawaiian – with a little powder puff applicator, it is an instant solution for airbrushed looking legs and cold shoulders and necklines. I hope they never stop doing it!
I do love having tanned skin though rather than needing to make it up every time I bare something! So all of these tanning products are music to my ears!

Retreating from the retreat…
It will be a while before I go away on holiday – at the end of June I go back to France as usual, for another writing retreat – escaping my writing retreat in Devon! Ha, ha. But working hard down there means I don’t really have time to write, myself. This week I had six people staying with me and many of them got lots of writing done, I was very jealous. One day I will finish my fifth novel, French or Dutch. I made some wicked dinners though! And more cake, on the back of last week’s triumph, I made banana bread but it all went before I could take a photograph! Ha, ha. Thank goodness Caitlin was there to help me, even if we didn’t get chance to go to the cinema this week.
It was a very busy week last week in Devon – but I still managed to get out and walk the dogs every day. Mid-week the weather changed and my goodness was it lovely. Go here see the live video I did in the picturesque countryside.
In one of the fields on the way out of Sheepwash, there is an unusual sight. A mother cow, grazing with her two baby calves. You might say why is that unusual, well don’t forget that, as I discovered when I went to a dairy farm a couple of years ago, they separate the mums and the babies and feed them all apart rather than keeping them together. I’d forgotten all about this until I saw this little site, and it made me smile, this is how it should be, I think. I’m not a campaigner or anything, but I don’t really eat dairy anymore because my body doesn’t like it so it’s an easy decision. Almond milk is for preferable! I actually made a chocolate almond milk rice pudding this week as well. It went down a storm alongside some poached pears in red wine, cinnamon and maple syrup sauce. Was quite pleased with myself. However, I did not half make a mess in the kitchen! It made my family laugh when I sent them a video of it. Here is a photo, I’m too embarrassed to show the rest! Took me till 11 o’clock to clear it all up!
I know, I fill my life with meeting people and having cups of tea and coffee! Well that’s the way I roll… Tuesdays are one of my highlights in Devon as I always meet my friend Alix for a cup of coffee after our trip to the market. Well, our regular lady who serves us, called Janice, has now left, and we are very disappointed. The reason is because we have such picky orders! Well when I say we, I mean me. We ask for a black coffee but using my own almond milk which I take in a beaker. I ask them to then make it into a latte, but can it be baby chino temperature. And not in a tall glass but in a cup. Oh my goodness I think I should write it out! But if you don’t ask, you don’t get, do you? I’ve never been embarrassed about asking for very specific things, but the same cannot be said for the friends around me – ha, ha. Alix and I have a good laugh about it though. Then we have our Tuesday powwow chat, usually about politics, and putting the world to rights. Plus this week I bought a big bundle of stuff from the Hatherleigh Market. We had to make two trips back to the car, we have bought so much stuff. There are some lovely plants there as well on the stand with a guy called Oliver. When I have my next week down here, hopefully I will get the chance to do some more planting in the garden. I’ve ordered a couple of big raised vegetable beds so hopefully we will get some nice lettuce or something this year! And my QVC strawberries and fuchsias have just arrived, so they are all being planted up as well. Never enough hours in the day is there
Book of the week
I can’t resist it, I have to mention The Mister. It’s the latest book out from EL James – remember her, she of Fifty Shades fame? Well this new one has been called her best yet. I don’t know, but I will give it a try on audiobook – it is a bit of a Cinderella story, apparently, where an aristocrat falls in love with his cleaner. Peppered with lots of raunchy scenes but apparently more of a romance this time. We will see 🙂
I want to go and watch Captain Marvel, because apparently it leads up to the final Avengers’ film, the follow-up to Infinity War. However, I’m featuring a film called Wild Rose, this week. A Scottish criminal comes out of prison and makes her way in the world as a country singer, including going to Nashville to try to make it big. Seems an unusual story, and the big question is whether her responsibilities to her young family will stop her achieving her ambitions. It looks quite funny, so I hope to see it soon!
