Since my last blog, something rather momentous has happened. I made cupcakes! Now, I know that for most of you, this is absolutely no big deal and probably something you could do in your sleep. However for me, someone who cannot cook or bake, and never does, and finds the whole idea really stressful, this is HUGE! I probably made cupcakes during Home Economics lessons in school, but in my adult life I certainly haven’t – until now, of course!
It all came about because there’s a KitchenAid Today’s Special Value offer coming up on QVC on Tuesday 16th and a sample of said machine was kindly left in the prep kitchen (where all the food for our food and kitchen shows is prepared) so that we could have a play with it. It’s actually the KitchenAid mini, a smaller (and therefore more affordable) version of the iconic food mixer, and it’s FANTASTIC. Jo, the head of our prep kitchen, gave me a really simple recipe and I was blown away by how quick and easy it was to make a batch of lemon cupcakes.
And, just as importantly, they were DELICIOUS, as numerous people including my presenter buddies Chloe, Eilidh and Katy, our make-up artist Jody and our bosses Sean, Mike and Kealan can confirm. So, without further ado, here is the video evidence. Me making cakes – who would have believed it? All down to the KitchenAid, which did all the hard work – what a machine!

I also visited the headquarters of publisher HarperCollins this week, which was very exciting. My new book – my first psychological thriller – will be released by them on April 19th, so I went in to do a bit of filming ahead of that. Such an impressive building, and so many books by so many incredible authors everywhere! I felt honoured and humbled to be there.
I’m off to Ireland now for my annual few days away with my mum and sisters – can’t wait! See you soon.
