Outside of QVC
Oh my goodness, I needed that little mini break. I took off part of the Easter Holidays and I don’t think I really knew how much I needed some time at home just to be at home and be with the kids for more than a few days in a row. I didn’t want to go anywhere more than a few miles from our house and I certainly didn’t want to be on the motorway that was for sure!
I am very lucky though as I am already at the coast so it’s like having a proper holiday as we get to spend so much time at the beach. That’s pretty much what we did too, we hung out together playing in the sand, lying in the sun and eating burgers in the beach hut. There isn’t much more kids need than a bucket and spade and ice creams to keep them happy so it was an easy bank holiday weekend.
We had friends come down and meet us on the beach too which was even better! As for the weather, oh my goodness wasn’t it amazing? It feels like summer is finally here. We were all of course covered top-to-toe in Ultrasun, the kids have the Factor 50 all over. I used the Face Fluid SPF 50 on my face and the Tan Activator SPF 30 on my body.
The timing couldn’t have been better for the bank holiday and the south coast was buzzing. I still don’t understand why everyone congregates in the same places though, I guess the tourists want to be where all the shops etc are but if only they knew all they had to do was walk a few hundred yards down the beach they wouldn’t be on top of each other’s beach towels! Where we are you have loads of space around you on the sand, but I guess I shouldn’t give that away as I like it that way. I guess people don’t want to walk carrying lots of stuff.
We didn’t spend the entire four-day weekend at the beach though, we also had a day out at Kingston Lacy. This is one of our favourite National Trust properties to visit. It’s a beautiful stately home that was built to resemble an Italian Palace. In the grounds there are Japanese landscaped gardens, a huge allotment, kids play areas, woodland walks and on this occasion an Easter trail following clues to the end where the kids got an Easter Egg. The National Trust really go out of their way on these seasonal events and it’s the best family time.
On Sunday, after already having eaten our fill of chocolate we decided it was time to get a bit more exercise into not just our week, but the kids. I think we are quite an active family but we could definitely do more. So we decided to go and do the Junior Park Run. Park run is a national event every weekend. You can take part in over 600 venues across the UK and the best bit is that it is free. On a Saturday it’s for the adults and youngsters over 14 to run 5K, but on Sundays at many of the same venues, it’s for the little ones between 4 and 14.
This was the first time that Ivy had qualified to take part as she just turned 4. So we all got up bright and early to head to our nearest venue and met up with a number of Tilda’s other school friends and their families and all did the 2K distance together. I won’t pretend that Ivy and Tilda (or even me) managed to run it all in one go but we did it and we weren’t even last!! It was such a great thing to do as a family and we will definitely be doing it each week when I’m not working.
At QVC – IGTV – 5 Minutes with…
I have started a new series of ‘5 minutes with…’ on my Instagram TV (IGTV) which I’m rather excited about. For those that don’t know what IGTV is, it’s a video platform on Instagram where you can upload full videos over a minute long. My first Interview is with Jules Von Hep from Isle of Paradise, click here to watch. I will be doing as many videos as I can, chatting to our fabulous guests and getting to know them all a bit better and not just hearing about their products. Also let me know who you would like to see me interview on there from QVC and I will try to make it happen. It can be guests and fellow presenters.
This is actually the dress I wore for Fred’s Birthday lunch but I completely forgot to get a picture of me that day so Fred kindly took some pictures of me in the garden. I won’t lie, he hates taking pictures and he is most definitely not what has become known as an ‘Insta Husband’ but we managed to get a few pictures where he hadn’t cut my head off so thank you Fred!
The dress is from Ghost, called the Holly Floral Dress, and it’s definitely got that tea dress vibe that we often get from this brand. It’s a beautiful soft blue with floral print, single button cuffs and a collar tie which you can tie in a bow if you wish. It’s 100% viscose and I just love it. It’s comfortable and in no way restrictive so I can still chase the kids around in it. I wore it with white Vionic trainers as it was quite a casual lunch but I would wear heels if going somewhere dressier.
For the jewellery I kept it simple and just wore earrings. One of my favourite go-to brands for jewellery is Pilgrim and that’s where these Asami Cut-Out Disc earrings are from. They aren’t too big but they still stand out and have really pretty cut-out detail which remind me of dragonfly wings. I am wearing the gold but you can also get them in rose and silver tone.
I have pictured the other colours for you and also added in another pair from Pilgrim as the shell trend is huge this summer. These are real sea shells on either a gold-tone or silver-tone earring and they are perfect for summer days whether you are a beach babe or prefer the grass under your feet!
What I’ve been using – Gatineau
You probably know by now that we have a big Beauty Day event coming your way this Sunday!!! Lots of amazing offers, many with no P&P and everything on the day on 4 Easy Pays!! The main event for the day will be our Today’s Special Value which is from Gatineau and it’s the perfect collection for this time of year.
We will be bringing you an Exclusive new launch of the Golden Glow Gradual Tan in Supersize 400ml. This gives a natural gradual tan that you are in control of. It is also high performance moisturisation and contains rosehip, raspberry seed and coconut oil to hydrate and help soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This is a great way to get a natural look when using it on its own but I also use it alongside some of my other tanning products (like the one I talked about last week) to keep it topped up without ending up looking dark. It keeps it all looking beautifully blended.
You will also be getting the supersize Tan Accelerator, which is perfect timing for me because I have run out of last year’s one!! I use this daily throughout the summer to help prepare my skin for the sun and to encourage an even and long-lasting tan. Yes I use fake tans in the run up to the summer and in winter months but I just love having a real tan. I am however someone that uses a high factor to protect my skin from sun damage so anything that helps accelerate my natural tan gets a big tick in my book.
Now for one of your favourites! You will be getting the Radiance Enhancing Gommage, this is also a favourite of mine too and it’s a top-rated product on our website. This product is designed to gently remove impurities and brighten up your complexion using enzymes. This is very much needed at this time of year.
The dirt in the air tends to be worse in the warmer weather particularly if you live in a city area so anything that gets the impurities out and brightens is a winner. This is a dreamy product to use too as when you apply it to the skin and massage it in it liquefies and turns to more of an oil. When rinsed away your skin looks completely refreshed. This product is a must, particularly if you don’t like abrasive exfoliators.
I am really looking forward to Beauty Day and will be on air 3pm and 6pm so I hope to see you there!
Lots of love Katy x
