Hi and welcome to the middle of the week! Wednesday. That day of the week that has now become known, by many of us, as ‘humpday’. Why humpday? Well, in analogous terms, if the week is a mountain, we have climbed and clawed our way from Monday to get to the summit of Wednesday. The ‘hump’ of that, once daunting, hill. As we catch our breath and rest here a minute (maybe even sitting down to have a naughty treat with our elevenses as it’s ‘nearly the weekend’), Friday night is now in our sights! It’s all going to get a bit easier now as we make our descent into the weekend. Downhill, plain sailing… aaaaaaaand relax.

After years of starting my blogs with apologies for not blogging enough, I thought I’d make (another) late New Year’s resolution. To publish a new blog every Wednesday. I may give you a little peek at new, upcoming offers, perhaps update you on my pussycats, Pixiecat and Popsiecat, share some of my healthy eating recipes with you, have a joke or just tell you about the latest behind the scenes shenanigans here at QVC and at the Huntley Homestead. Whatever the subject, I’m hoping it’ll be a little something to look forward to on weary old Wednesdays when Friday still seems a month away. We can help each other through humpday and into the weekend with a smile. Mmmm… weekend. Drooooooling already.

Speaking of the weekend. If you didn’t know already, we now have a regular, weekly (or should that be ‘weekendly’), style slot on both days. Fashion Fix at 4. You can join me this Saturday and Sunday at 4pm for fast-paced, high-style, head-to-toe fashion with style advice from our expert guests.

When I last presented this show a couple of weeks ago my producer and director came to chat with me and we realised we had all been in synchronicity with each other when getting dressed!

That’s how in tune we are and entirely by chance, ha ha! That’s our producer, Kealan, on the right and the, somewhat, famous Frankie. You’ll often hear us refer to a director who loves his food, and I mean REALLY loves his food, and now you can put a face to the name.

On the subject of fashion… you may well have heard about the time I was wearing a gorgeous Onjenu ‘dress’ on air but it turned out to be a jumpsuit? If not, I’ll fill you in now. I selected a beautiful maxi ‘dress’ or so I thought. I had put both legs into one leg hole and the other leg tricked me into thinking it was a stunning sash.

I was really impressed with designer, Mena’s, latest maxi! Lots of people were phoning up to ask about it and my producer, said in my ear, “Catherine, we can’t find your dress anywhere online… oh, oh wait! Catherine!! You’re wearing a jumpsuit! Ha ha ha ha, you’ve got both legs in one hole, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!”. I was gobsmacked but found it very funny and the ‘dress’ sold out. I’d call that a ‘toofer’. A two for one! A dress AND a jumpsuit!

You’d think I wouldn’t be stupid enough to do it again, wouldn’t you? You’d be wrong. The other day I was wearing a cold shoulder number that I had to pull down for a *ahem* comfort break and when I pulled it back up again I seemed to have lost my, previously present, sleeves.

I walked through to where Debbie Flint was sitting in a face mask and we realised what I’d done! I’d put my blinkin’ arms through the cold shoulder holes and the sleeves were dangling from my armpits! This led to both of us crying with laughter which, in turn, led to Debbie’s tears making tracks down her face in her mask! You just couldn’t make it up!

Finally, I wanted to let you know how I’m getting on with my month of wholefood, plant-based eating alongside a month of no boozy shmoozy. If you read my last blog you’ll know I’m a huge fan of Christianne Wolff (sister of Kipling guest, Marie Francoise Wolff) and her Body Rescue Plan and I vowed to follow her vegan version. Well, I’ve found that all the good stuff I’ve learned previously about nutrition with her has really sunk in so I’ve kind of gone off piste in so much as I’m not doing the plan in the order according to the book but more of a maintenance plan.

I’m making up my own recipes. I’m using my Ninja, my Vitamix and I’ve also invested in Jason Vale’s cold press juicer. It’s expensive but worth it if, like me, you plan to use it loads. I’m not actually on a ‘diet’. I’m working more towards healthy being my everyday way of life so it’ll earn its keep.

With regard to my Bodyblade, I have picked it up whenever I remember in the first week but now I’m really getting into it and have ordered a second one as my son is loving it, too, and it’s good to bring one in to work so I can squeeze in a workout when I can, easily.

    Hi Catherine,
    So glad you are doing a weekly blog. You so make me laugh. Which is wot I need at the mo. 10 days ago I broke my ankle in 2 places and am almost bedridden for 2 weeks. Then on Monday I had to have my dog put to sleep. He was my bestest friend so right now I am very very sad.
    Your cheery blogs will be great.

      Thank you for writing in and for sharing. I am so very sad for your loss. I completely believe that our pets are our family, too. I can’t imagine how you must be feeling but I am thinking of you.

      How dreadful to be in such physical pain on top of having to cope with losing your boy. My heart goes out to you and I hope we can bring you some smiles and warmth while you rest up and recover.

    Catherine you are so joyous in all that you do …… thank you so much for showing us that not everyone is perfect. Laughter is so important in this stressful world and your “incidents” give us the opportunity to laugh with you (def not at you). Wonder how long your resolution to do a weekly blog will last lol.

      You made me laugh with your last comment! You know me too well! Always enthusiastic but, like a puppy, I get distracted by the next thing and then start enthusing about that! You’ll have to urge me to keep on track from time to time if I ever show signs of not keeping up.

      The plan is to be here every week, though. I’ve alreafy written this week’s blog so it’s a good start to week two 🙂
