How the puppies keep cool and Alison’s 18th anniversary

Puppies in the paddling poolHello, well I hope you're coping with this incredible spell of hot weather! Wow it's been a scorcher over the last few days. I hope I'm not tempting fate as I write this!

Our two gorgeous Cairn Terriers aren't a fan of the hot weather so we treated them (and us!) to a little paddling pool! At first we bought a small inflatable pool which lasted all of five minutes! Misty tore a chunk out of the base when it was filled with water and Bramble promptly popped the inflatable tubes. In fact, I think it lasted seconds rather than minutes. Well, we upgraded the next day to a hard shell paddling pool which they love! Although, as you can see, it's more like a mud pool than paddling pool now!

Alison celebrating 18 years on QVCI had a great show recently with our very own Alison Young. She's celebrated an astonishing 18 years of beauty at QVC. Alison has become a great friend as well as colleague over the years. Remember to tune in, if you can, to her regular show every Thursday afternoon at 4pm.

Speaking of regular shows, Destination Gems is back this Tuesday evening at 8pm. We launch a brand new competition, have the Gem Reveal and of course beautiful designs of jewellery.

I'm also back Wednesday evening, 17th July, at midnight with the S20 Push Spin Mop, and then it gets very exciting on Saturday night (21st July) at midnight with the Apple Today's Special Value… I'll reveal more in my next blog!

Take care and do join me on Twitter if you can…. It's lots of fun, I'm @mecharliebrook

    Hi Charlie,
Your pups certainly look as if they are enjoying themselves. My daughter was thinking of getting something like that for her labrador as he loves the water. If you put a bucket of water out for him or fill up his water bowl, he puts his face right down in the water and blows bubbles.
We took our two labrador puppies (8 months old) down to the ponds the other night when we did some dog training, it was our two pups, their two sisters and a brother, and a friend had their 6 month old labrador, we let them off, straight in the water when they came out you could not tell who was who, all these excited wet labradors running around. They just dived in and some were very cautious about entering. Our labradors are mostly black, and they always get hotter than the yellow labradors. Our older one’s just stay in the kennels in their beds until about seven o’clock in the evening and then want to come out.
Love the cake Alison has in the photograph.
How are your Lillies coming on?
Have a great weekend and enjoy the weather, and remember the paddling pool is for the dogs.

Morning Charlie, hope you and the family are well. Chilling out on this lovely morning and catching up with the blogs. Looks like your terrible twosome are enjoying themselves. I have a plastic pool similar to yours for my chocolate lab as I also found out the hard way that dogs & inflatable pools do not mix! She adores it in this weather and quite often just lays in it, you just have to catch her before she tries to get back in the house dripping wet. Last weeks blog bought back lots of memories, I have the 90’s mix and the white ’96 mix on CD, although until now, I had no idea that you were involved in them. You are full of surprises! I adore my music, albeit quite an eclectic range, and am currently in the process of transferring my large collection of vinyl albums and 12 inch singles onto my computer. A little time consuming but it too is bringing back lots of memories, although there are a few that I wonder what on earth possessed me, ahh the blissful ignorance of youth! Loved the necklace by the way, it is beautiful, I wonder, were you slightly influenced by the egg timer pendant?
Enjoy your weekend, long may this glorious weather continue.
Love to you and the family.
    Bev x.

Hello Jean, thanks for the reply. I love Labs, they’re big cuddly bundles of joy!
Our two Cairns love the water and it’s helping to keep them cool. They’re a little fed up of this weather! The lilies are coming on a treat, no blooms yet though!
    Take care

Hello Bev. Thanks for getting in touch.
I’m so flattered you have my mix album – I do love a musical trip down memory lane! My taste is so varied I find it hard to answer when some one asks ‘what kind of music do you like?’.
Thank you for loving the necklace. I have been pondering with the idea for quite a while and when I saw the egg timer it certainly spurred me on!
Take care and stay cool ( tooooooo hot for me! )

    Hi Charlie
I too have a cairn terrier, who loves the sunshine, but has been defeated by the heat recently. He loves the water and a tennis ball so has enjoyed his days swimming in the river chasing after his ball

Hi Sarah, another Cairn owner…. Hurrah! Fabulous aren’t they! I’m walking them early in the morning before the heat becomes too much! Ours chase the ball but won’t bring it back!
    Kind regards
