First of all a massive thank you for all the lovely messages on my last blog and also on my social media accounts after my little running race disaster. As I write this I’m healing nicely – my facial bruising faded in a matter of days, and my knee and hand are doing well. The hand is taking a little longer as that was where the deepest cuts were, so the bandage is still on but not for much longer hopefully! Your kind thoughts and words are very much appreciated, and yes I will try to be more careful in future…
Right – onwards! Just before the 50km race I had a lovely day at Evesham Festival of Words, so thought I’d share a couple of photos with you. I was invited there to chat about my books and former career as a TV news reporter (which is what I did before QVC) and had a lovely audience who asked lots of questions which is always a joy.
The event was held in the Friends Meeting House, which is right in the town centre but, quite unexpectedly, has the most BEAUTIFUL garden, a real little oasis. I had a lovely time (especially as there was tea and cake too!). I don’t do events like that very often and I usually get really nervous then wonder what on earth I was worried about!
(Thanks to Angela Fitch Photography for the photo in the venue.)
Now – here’s a quick look ahead at a few upcoming Today’s Special Value offers which have caught my eye! First – trainers! OK, so the running trainers will be staying off for another few days but I love trainers for everyday wear too and I’m a huge Skechers fan. On Sunday 22nd look out for their Be-Lite Classic Fit Bungee Slip-on trainers. Be-Lite is a new collection which is really light and flexible, and these are pull on/off and have air cooled memory foam insoles so perfect for wearing without socks (I can’t imagine ever wearing socks again at the moment! So hot!) The upper is mesh and faux leather (so vegan friendly) and they’ll be available in Black, Blue, Taupe, Rose, Sage and White… and only available at QVC.
Next, on Monday 23rd a very funky hairstyling tool. The Calista StyleDryer comes with five different attachments (two round brushes of different sizes, a concentrator, a root lift tool and a paddle brush) plus two handy hair clips, and it’s all neatly packed into a great zipped travel bag.
My hair in the top photo above was done with this, producing those soft curls. The StyleDryer combines blow drying with styling and was created by award-winning stylist Maria McCool who opened her Calista salon in Pennsylvania at the age of just 23. She’s huge on QVC in the US so it’s exciting to have her joining us here too. Whether you want soft waves, big curls or just volume on short hair, this tool will style and dry at the same time. It’s light too! Really easy to use.
And finally, a quick look at the Vax Blade Ultra 32V Cordless Vacuum Cleaner which will air on the 26th. I tried this at home on carpets, hard floors and kitchen worktops (it converts from a powerful stick vacuum to a brilliant hand-held) and it’s fantastic. I spilled lots of coffee (I don’t drink coffee – it was my hubby’s, sssssh) and it picked up every grain from every surface. I don’t have pets but it’s designed to make short work of pet hair too and you get 45 minutes run time on a single charge, plus there’s a “boost “mode for the stubborn dirt. I know there are lots of big brand vacuum cleaners to choose from on QVC and it can be hard to know which one to go for, but if you don’t have hundreds of pounds to spend, this is a great buy.
