As we wave farewell to summer and look ahead to the autumn months, we’re feeling pretty excited here at QVC. OK so we’ll miss the warmer weather and long, sunny days, but we’re also fast approaching the season of feasting, and more specifically, the dinner party.
Of course dinner parties aren’t exclusively a cold-weather affair, but there’s something special about welcoming in friends and family from the chilly night air for a cosy evening of delicious food and drink.
We’ve got a brilliant selection of Christmas snacks, drinks and nibbles over in our Food department, take a look if you haven’t already.
Don’t worry though, if you’re not quite ready to bring on the festivities, have a browse below at our top picks for dinner party feasting… Christmas-themed or otherwise!
Cheesy does it
OK, no more cheese puns. We’ll leave those to you while you’re offering round this mouth-watering selection of cheddar from Snowdonia Cheese before your main course. Black Bomber is a creamy and smooth mature cheddar, ideal for those that love a stronger flavour, Ruby Mist is one for grandma (it boasts a boozy infusion of white port and brandy), and Ginger Spice is great for the more adventurous members of your dinner party cohort, with its intriguing crystalised ginger pieces (Spice Girls references optional).
Where there’s a wine, there’s a way
Pair your meal perfectly with one of the five varieties of exquisite red wines in this Laithwaite’s 10-bottle collection. Hailing from some of France’s most popular regions, this superb case comes with two Dartington Crystal wine tumblers so you can swill, gargle and sniff to your heart’s content. Or just sip it if that’s more your thing.
Not a wine drinker?
That’s fine! Cast your tipple net further afield and sample Great Taste Award-winning gin or sup on a craft beer; we’ve a fantastic selection of both that’ll satisfy every libation-loving guest at dinner.
Once the main meal’s taken care of, treat everyone to some British-made Cassis from White Heron. Intensely deep and fruity, this fabulous blackcurrant liqueur can be enjoyed over ice, in a cocktail or generously splashed into a glass of prosecco.
Time for dessert
We’re all about whipping up a dessert that looks seriously impressive… and takes just five minutes to make. These rainbow-hued Meringue Drops from Flower & White come in the super cute flavours Bubblegum & Sherbet and Rainbow Fruit, and are pretty enough to serve up on their own if you wanted. If you’re feeling particularly fancy, crumble them up and mix with whipped cream and blueberries for a truly technicolour finish to your meal.
Proper posh popcorn
After-dinner nibbles don’t get much better than this Joe & Seph’s 12-piece popcorn selection, created by famous father and son chef duo, Michel and Alain Roux for their new Edinburgh restaurant. With flavours like Goats Cheese & Black Pepper, Pina Colada and Ginger with Lemongrass, your guests will be singing your praises as they pull on their coats and scarves, ready to brave the elements.
Feeling prepared to host your next dinner party? We hope so! If you’ve got any top tips of your own for making the night go off without a hitch, post them below in the comments; we love to read them.
