Honey Caramel

You may think I’m going to start this week’s blog by writing about two sweet treats: honey and caramel. Actually, it is the name of the gorgeous lip gloss in the Laura Geller Gilded Collection, the Today’s Special Value this coming Sunday.

I am a massive fan of Laura’s lip glosses anyway, and wear them frequently both on telly and in real life. I particularly like this one, with its warm, neutral colour and little flecks of gold. I’m still not great at taking selfies, but this was me wearing the whole collection on-air yesterday.

It consists of foundation, blusher, eyeshadows, kajal eyeliner, their Baked Gelato Highlighter and the lip gloss. All I added was mascara and eyebrows!

It’s already available to pre-order on our website, and you can pay in 3 Easy Pay instalments. I will be with Sarah Jagger for the 11am show on Sunday morning, which I’m thinking might be quite busy.

The theme of the collection, as the name suggests, is gold. You may just be able to spot the gold on my Alison Cork cushions in the picture at the top. I wish I’d ordered more than two, as we have now stopped doing them. Although I did spot some embroidered feather ones on our website which are at a special price… tempting!

You must be thinking my house is full of QVC goodies, and you’d be right. I took this photo on Wednesday evening.

It was a bit chilly and our daughter Sophie, who feels the cold, was coming round for one of her favourite dinners – homemade cauliflower and broccoli cheese. So, we popped the central heating on for a couple of hours and lit the candles for extra warmth.

In the picture, you can see my Fresh Cut Roses Yankee Candle (included in their Pink & Lilac mixology set) with the recent Peony Today’s Special Value behind it on the hearth. Just out of shot is one of my many Tiffany Style lights!

Talking of QVC purchases, Chris is loving his new Soniclean toothbrush. He says it is making his teeth feel ‘shiny’. He is also learning to love the colour purple… now there’s a good title for a book… oh no, it’s already been done.

So, life has been a little chaotic lately and I haven’t had the time or felt the inspiration to write since I finished ‘Alice’ in April. On Tuesday afternoon, I set myself a task and I got out the ‘Writer’s Block’ book. It was a birthday present from Ali Keenan a few years back, after I told her I wanted to write a novel, to give me a few ideas.

By Wednesday tea-time, I had finished writing a 2,500 word short story – if you get fed up hearing about my writing, you now know who to blame!

If, however, you are interested, you can go to my website, www.juliarobertsauthor.com where I have finally got around to writing a new blog. It includes all of the links to various blog posts during my Alice in Theatreland blog tour.

I’m still trying to decide what to do with the short story. Should I enter it for a competition, submit it to a magazine or put it on my website as a free download for those people who sign up to my newsletter? Decisions, decisions.

Well, one decision I have made is that I need to leave for work in ten minutes, so I must dash. Fashion on Friday today at 5pm is Yong Kim. Plus, if you love QVC fashion, check out next week’s Look of the Week below.

On next week’s blog I’ll be giving you more information on the necklace I am wearing in the ‘selfie’ at the top of this blog but meanwhile I’ll see you for lots of shows on TV.
