I hope all’s well, as always.
I’ve so far (touch wood) managed to avoid the nasty coughing virus that’s currently doing the rounds at The Q and as the lovely weather continues to bake the UK, many ask me how Ellie and Toby cope with the heat given their long shaggy coats?
Well beardies (bearded collies) are experts at finding the coolest spots in the house or garden – outside they will instinctively find a spot that never gets direct sun, usually along one side of our house or a large rhododendron under which they then dig a large hole to wallow in. Seriously, both of them do it and our previous beardie, Emma, did it too.
We also have their tummies shaved regularly and at last count there were five water bowls scattered around the garden and when it’s really hot we often lace them with ice cubes – I know what you’re thinking but they love them. Obviously ‘walkies’ are confined to early mornings and evenings.
Tracey and I love our home and following last year’s building work, we’ve spent (well Tracey) has spent a huge amount of time looking at little ways to give our interior a makeover by adding those finishing touches that can make all the difference.
Next Wednesday (15th Aug) at 3pm I’m delighted to present an hour of Mini Moderns Interiors guested by London-based designers and founders Mark Hampshire and Keith Stephenson who say: “We create pattern with a story”.
Launched in 2006, Mini Moderns is an interiors brand specialising in applied pattern across a range of products including wallpapers, fabrics, cushions, rugs and ceramics. Their design influences range from mid-century British textiles to vintage toys, from literature to childhood memories.
Keith and Mark say that “travel also influences our work and much of our inspiration comes from holidays and field trips, both at home and abroad. At Mini Moderns we like to produce in the UK whenever possible. All our wallpapers, fabrics, cushions, tea towels and bags are made in the UK by people with whom we’ve developed long-standing relationships”. The show offers a great variety from tea towels to scented candles and from oven gloves to kettles!
Keith and Mark have been busy on Instagram and Twitter posting about the show already – so I hope you can join the three of us live at 3pm for what I’m sure will be a great show! PLus, visit the QVCUK Facebook page for details on an exciting competition!
Until next time, stay cool and imaginative…
