Outside of QVC
Well I doubt any of you missed the fact that there was a pretty big event over the weekend! I thought the wedding was wonderful, Harry and Meghan looked so happy and the whole event was beautiful. I got to watch the beginning of it with Fred, Tilda and Ivy before I had to leave for work which was so lovely. Tilda is really into drawing and fashion and is always designing dresses for her dolls so she really enjoyed watching all the guests arrive in their fabulous outfits.
I bought us all Lemon and Elderflower muffins to match the Royal wedding cake and I also bought the girls a little treat. We have some cuddly Disney Princess dolls at QVC at the moment so I bought them as a present to watch the wedding with as I wouldn’t be able to see it all with them. To be honest I think they were more excited about the dolls than the wedding!
On Sunday, Fred and I blitzed the garden! We cleared and cut back hedges, mowed the lawn and jet washed the decking in preparation to re-stain it. It’s a massive job as the entire bottom tier of our garden is decking. It was absolutely back-breaking and by 4pm I had to throw in the towel. I had got as far as starting the re-staining and my hands started seizing up! I think the power of holding the jet washer for so long was all too much. I was also covered in splatters of mud and green algae, nice eh?!
We are so nearly there though and it will be worth it in the end to have the garden looking refreshed and ready for the rest of the summer. I shall post another picture when it’s all done. Trouble is, the table and chairs need re-varnishing too, as well as the playhouse. It’s going to be never-ending!
What I’m wearing
Have you seen that we now have Geox footwear at QVC? They are right up my street because so many of their styles are metallic. I love metallic shoes, they go with everything. These Nhenbus slip-on trainers are really cool and incredibly comfortable. I went for the gold but we have them in silver too. I have been wearing them every day with cargo trousers, jeans and also long summer dresses as you can see here.
Along with the Geox I also had my favourite backpack from Amanda Wakeley. This one is now out of stock but we do have the smaller version of it, it’s called the Mini Flynn. I’m even more excited to tell you about the Amanda Wakeley sunglasses that are coming soon to QVC, I love aviators and these have a really nice light tint to them. They keep the sun out of your eyes but they are the perfect in-between tint that you don’t feel the need to take them off as soon as you go indoors. The slim arms mean they don’t block your vision when you are driving too. I have a feeling these will be incredibly popular.
As it’s accessories month I also wanted to tell you about the Ophia I Believe in Unicorns watch. Unicorns are so incredibly popular at the moment aren’t they? I think it’s the need for whimsical escapism that’s caught everyone’s imagination. They represent something magical so this watch really is a lovely reminder of that throughout your day every time you look at it. Great for those of us that still have that need for magic in their day but also I think this would be a great present for the teens in our lives. If Tilda was old enough I would get this as a first watch for her.
What I’m using in beauty
Color Wow Dream Coat. Now this has become a bit of a game-changer for me. You may have heard me mention on air how my hair takes a bit to control as it’s very frizzy. I always had very curly hair when I was younger but it’s changed over the years due to over-styling and ever since I had kids, its curl has started to disappear. The frizz however is the issue I hate the most.
It looks terrible if I leave it to dry naturally but if I blow dry it my hair tends to get quite flat quite quickly. I’ve always used serum and oils, which I still do when leaving it but now when I want to blow dry it I use Dream Coat. It stays smooth and ridiculously shiny and doesn’t frizz up at the slightest whiff of moisture. It also doesn’t weigh my hair down, it stays bouncy, almost too bouncy – I have to straighten it a little at the root to bring it down a little!!
It’s funny when I go the hairdressers and they always say ‘oh you’ll get three days out of this blow dry’ and inside I’m thinking ‘hmmm I will have to do it again tomorrow’ because it always goes really limp the day after with the products they use. I might start taking this in with me next time I get my hair done.
What I’m cooking
Ok so I didn’t really cook much this week, I just didn’t have time. There was a lot of ready meals happening. So my recipe is a really quick and nice thing to make with my girls. Homemade lemonade!! It’s the nicest thing on a hot summer’s day.
You’ll need 6 lemons (use unwaxed if you want to add extra peel)
200g caster sugar
1.2l of boiling water
Halve all the lemons and squeeze out all of the juice. I used an electric squeezer just to get as much out of them as possible but which also held back the pulp. If using a hand squeezer you may want to strain it to get some of the pith out, just pour it through a sieve. Take a large jug and pour in the juice and the sugar. You cover with the boiling water and stir to dissolve the sugar. Leave to cool and then pop into the fridge.
Make sure to serve with lots of ice and even a sprig of mint. I will be adding some crushed raspberries to mine, I would have added them to the main juice but Tilda doesn’t like them! Drink it within a few days, if it lasts that long! You can also play around with how much sugar you use if it’s too sweet for you.
