We stayed at the Atlantis resort on the Palm, which was just the most incredible place. I must admit the hotel prices came as a bit of a shock with a scoop of ice cream each for the children coming in at sixteen pounds! ( yes it really was eight pounds per scoop) I had to get my budgeting skills in order or we were not going to last the ten days!
The view from the balcony was breathtaking and the service certainly second to none. I loved the fact that they came round the sun loungers with cold lemon towels and ice pops everyday! (ice pops were free so we liked those!) It was really weird swimming in the sea but looking out onto the city skyline in the background.
The lost chambers is an aquarium at the Atlantis hotel and was very impressive too, apparently they even have rooms which have the aquarium running through them so you can wake up with a stingray staring at you!
Most afternoons we hopped on the little hotel buggy that would take us to Adventurine the hotel's water park which the kids loved. My son went on the leap of faith, a water slide with a vertical drop of about 95 feet, I was petrified!
There I was with my Fuji bridge camera on full zoom for about half an hour then suddenly his face appeared at the top. He saw me and gave me a little wave. My heart was in my mouth as he plunged the 95 foot drop but luckily I managed to stay composed and got a great shot. Matt Trim would be so proud!
We got out and about quite a lot. Taxi's were surprisingly cheap compared to everything else in Dubai and actually the restaurant prices outside of Atlantis were a lot more acceptable too. We love the shopping Malls especially the Dubai Mall where we had dinner watching the dancing fountains! We also went up the Burj Khalifa which is the worlds tallest building and has the most spectacular views over Dubai.
We also enjoyed exploring the souks and some of the older parts of Dubai too. All in all it was a superb holiday with lots of sunshine and memories to cherish forever.
I have to say I came back to freezing weather, luckily things have brightened up a bit now, but with all the new offerings we have on screen it feels like we are out of the weather doldrums at last. I was really glad I made it back in time for the summer fashion event which was really exciting and I always feel better when I know there's a big Birkenstock Tsv on the horizon, and guess what? It's this week! So stand by those phones.
I will be with you Wednesday at midnight for a fabulous starter kit for Gel nails and Thursday at midnight join Nicky Lloyd and myself for a terrific Birkenstock Tsv which comes in some fantastic colours. There's a gorgeous almost denim blue which I have my eye on, it's a real summer sizzler but I know for a fact there's less blue stock to go around! You see I get you all the inside info!!
Anyway don't forget more updates and gossip on Twitter @ JillyQVC and see you mid week at midnight!
Lots of love
