I thought ‘here we go again’ was such an apt title as I do really feel that my year always starts in September. Maybe I’ve just been on the school run for too many years (goodness knows how it feels if you have more than two children) but the school year really does seem more like a new start to me than the 1st of January!
The closing chapter of our school year is always our family holiday and this year we had a fantastic time in Corfu. With brilliant weather, we actually did not see a cloud in the sky for two weeks, and enjoyed lots of lazing around in the sunshine. It was the perfect relaxing break that we all needed. Even the kids were happy to chill most of the time. Taylor had been so busy with his studies and Cassidy with her dancing, that I think we were all pretty exhausted. In fact it took us the whole of the first week to summon up enough energy to take a trip to Aqualand Water Park, which was well worth it as it was a great day out.
Thank goodness I was armed and ready with my trusted Ultrasun. I started on SPF50 on both face and body just for the first couple of days. I then went on to the Family SPF30, and in the second week I moved onto Glimmer SPF20 for the body and Face SPF30. My husband said I use my SPF like I’m painting by numbers, and I guess I do really, but I feel so rejuvenated laying in the sun and love having a tan, so I just try to protect my skin as much as possible. The other product I used before I went on holiday was the Elemis Tan Accelerator, which I thought was excellent and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to make the most of the sunshine. Just use it a week or two before going on holiday – I had a bit left so also used it as an after-sun lotion for the first couple of days on holiday too, and it simply prepares the skin by helping to get it ready for the onslaught of the sun.
So now here I am desperate to make my tan last as long as humanly possible, and what I’m using at the moment which I think is really helping is the Liz Earle Superskin Dry Body Oil. This is fabulous and packed with rosehip oil and cranberry – it smells divine. People keep asking what perfume I have on! Little do they know that I’m smothering myself in oil at least three times a day!
Which brings me to the importance of hydration, and whether it’s for your face or body, it’s just so important to lock that hydration in.
I was so excited to get my little suntanned mitts on The Lux Edition, a gorgeous Today’s Special Value offer from the equally gorgeous Doris Dalton from Doll 10. Doris is known for her problem-solving cosmetics that, without sounding to dramatic, have changed women’s lives and boosted confidence around the world. The collection is beautifully packed in a rose gold presentation box, so would make a superb gift, but what’s inside is all about hydration. The HydraLux Foundation is a revelation, as it appears to relax the fine lines and wrinkles giving a much more youthful look to your foundation and for anyone with a more mature skin it’s amazing, as so many foundations out there just sit in your lines and exacerbate every wrinkle.
You also get the HydraGel Concealer so again really making that crepey around your delicate eye area appear so much smoother. A Hydragel lipstick in a very flattering shade is also in the kit, along with a very professional foundation brush, which would be really expensive to buy, even on its own. Then finally included is Liquid H2 Glo, which is an incredible liquid highlighting gel – the perfect way to create luminosity.
If you are new to Doll 10 you will love the products, and if you’ve never seen Doris before on QVC you will love her. She is one of the nicest ladies you will ever meet!
