Hello sunshine!

QVC's new Chiswick Park studiosSummer's here at last ! As I write it's 28 degrees and both my QVC plants and solar lights are soaking up the sun! Actually so was I today (but don't tell Ali Young!)

So much is happening at the mo with our pending move to west London only a matter of 2 weeks away now!

For the past few weeks, our Broadcasting team have been working various 'shadow' shifts from our new studios, or I should say 'Media and Commerce Centre'.

The building is state of the art and set in beautiful surroundings, as you can see from my photo. Our set designers have also done a magnificent job of using every inch of available space, but you'll have to wait 'til our launch to see them – sorry!

As you know Charlie, Julian and I will share a dressing room! Which will be interesting to say the least – I'll be reporting back on anything newsworthy on that front, once we've moved in. You may have therefore noticed that the usual presenter patterns have been out of sync, whilst we make sure that everything is perfect for the big day in June.

On the 16th of June I will be doing the 10 mile Breast Cancer Care walk in Marble Hill Park, Twickenham. Weather permitting, I hope to bring Toby the Wonder Dog along with me – cold, rain or wind won't prevent him – but I'm worried if it is going to be a scorcher that it will be too hot for him and his shaggy coat! I think it starts at 11.30am, 'Mad Dogs and Englishmen' springs to mind. Why not come down and say hello – I'll be blogging about it in more detail soon.

It's 'Chelsea Week' at the Q this week – no, not celebrating our newly-crowned European Champions but the world-famous RHS Flower Show.

I'm presenting a few shows with that 'Gardening Silver Fox' Richard Jackson, which is always a highlight for me, as we always enjoy working with each other, but we also have to concentrate quite hard not to start giggling like two naughty schoolboys from time to time!

Enjoy the sun, whilst it lasts – long may it shine!

Take care until next time,
Dale x

    Hello Sunshine,
Well Daleo, it had to happen. You mention the sunshine and how hot it was, and not long after it starts p………. pouring down. Lovely while it lasted though. Hope you enjoyed the hot weather Dale, I did.
I’ve been so busy Dale; last week I had a big Russian (rush on, rush on, keep up, keep up, concentrate). My husband had to go into hospital to have two stents put into one of the arteries of his heart. He has to go back into hospital for the same procedure to another artery in 6 weeks time.
Hope the move to Chiswick goes well. I have a friend who lives in Chiswick and my first job was just up the road. I probably sound like one of those ‘been there, done it’ sort of people, but I’m a West London gal Dale so I know that part of London well. I don’t envy the poor presenters with the travelling though. I know only too well how bad the traffic gets, especially on the roundabout and North Circular. Phew, rather you than me.
Ten mile walk Dale; I’m tired just saying it. I would have loved to come down to meet you and cheer you on but, unfortunatley, if hubby is okay we will be on hols in Highcliffe, sunny Highcliffe I hope. Actually we will be house hunting Daleo; either Devon or Dorset, depends on what we find. I would love to sponsor you though Dale; let us know the details. In all honesty Dale, don’t you think 10 miles might be a little too much for the handsome Toby? I don’t know because I’ve always had little dogs, but 10 miles does sound like a long way.
I just have to mention the show you did the other week with Leonard; he was just hilarious, I love him. It was great to watch and I nearly did laugh continuously, especially when he said about the butt singing the National Anthem (remember), great stuff, lovely man.
Anyway, would love to lie here chatting all day but must get up and make a cup of tea.
Where’s our Ma? Miss yer Ma, come back out to play xx
    Over and out. xx

Now look what you’ve done Daleo! You should know better than to blog too soon about the sunshine! June is looking like a lot of a wash out!
I really thought those Q royal heads would put in an appearance on the Jubilee TV celebrations yesterday! Did I miss a Tommy Cooper impression whilst watching something else?! Speaking of which, I went to the Doc’s and said …. doctor, I’ve broken my arm in several places. The doc said …… well don’t go to any of those places again!!!! Ha, ha…….. just like that! I bet you know loads more!!
The new building looks fab. Is my invite in the post?! How do we sponsor you for the BCC walk gorgeous? Shouldn’t worry about the weather being too hot!
    Lots of love

    Hello Dale, hello Ma,
Lovely to hear from you Ma, hope your mum is okay. Lots of love Ma’s mum xx
The great Tommy Cooper; one of my all time favourite comedians. They definitely don’t make ’em like that anymore, that’s for sure. Talking of funny things, perhaps you could help me out with something. I have many favourite funny moments from TV, i.e. Fools and Horses, Tommy Cooper, Eric and Ern, Spike Milligan, Benny Hill to name a few, but I just can’t remember who played the role in my all time favourite clip. I’m sure Daleo will know. Anyway, concentrate Daleo and see if you remember who did this clip. You all know the saying when we were younger about always going out with clean underwear on, just in case we’re involved in an accident. Well, this clip shows a man in suit, bowler, briefcase and umbrella leaving for work. He’s reminded by his mum on leaving about having clean underwear on. He gets to the road and starts to cross. In slow motion he then looks right and sees a big lorry coming towards him. Knowing he is going to be hit, he starts to undress in the road and pulls out a clean pair of underpants from his briefcase. It was a hilarious clip but I can’t think who did it. Any ideas Dale? Also, do you remember the clip of a man dressed as the Devil waiting at a bus stop. When the bus comes along it has 666 on the front; absolutely hilarious or is it only me with this kinda humour.
Anyway, let’s keep on laughing no matter what xx
Good luck with the move, and the travelling.
    Au Revoir xx

    Hello Gail
Thank you for your kind words and thoughts sweetie especially as you’ve also got a poorly loved one, so thoughtful. I hope you get to go on holiday. Are you referring to Lennie from Nina Leonard? I also love him, such a funny guy.

    Hi Ma,
Yes, I was referring to Lennie. He is such a very nice, funny man; I love watching him. Glad your Mum is okay.
    Love Gail xx
