As much as I love Christmas, it was very difficult to even think about the cold weather and Christmas shopping when I was escaping the cold in the beautiful gulf cost of Mexico. Even the idea of being wrapped up in my warm winter coat, gloves, scarves, and of course you know I couldn’t get through a winter without my thermals, it all seemed so far away. I always take a break before the crazy Christmas madness begins at QVC. It’s a very busy time and I wouldn’t miss it for the world as I love all the studios decked out for Christmas and I LOVE Christmas. I think that’s an understatement!! Plus I’ll take any opportunity to enjoy some warm weather and precious time with my gorgeous husband. We just love it!!
We had many beautiful walks and runs on the beach, ate at our favourite restaurants, and of course my day wouldn’t be complete without my two hours of Pilates. I just don’t feel human if I don’t do it. As many of you know my fitness and nutrition plays a very important role in my life. The older I get the more I realise I need to stay even healthier, fitter and more agile. If you don’t have your health, life can be very difficult. To me it’s vital to look after myself and thankfully I get lots of wonderful comments so I must be doing something right.
The coastline on the Gulf Coast is simply stunning with temperatures in the 80s most days. Just beautiful. I love the beaches as they are so peaceful and quiet. In fact the beaches are little gems yet to be discovered. All you can hear are the waves crashing in … heavenly!! I will never say no to the beach, palm trees & sunshine. Bliss!!
Thank you to the Met Spa for a truly magnificent morning of treatments. I had a Hot Stone Therapy massage (my therapist got carried away and forgot the time. I had a one hour 45 minute treatment instead if one hour 20) It wasn’t until I managed the words “what time is it?” that she suddenly realised she had over-run. Not that I was complaining as it was the best body treatment I have ever had. I really believe the therapist can make or break a good treatment. My facial was super hydrating. My skin literally soaked up the organic products used. It was just what I needed as my schedule has been crazy and my last break was in May this year.
I am very strict with my skincare routine on my face and body, and it can be very tempting to be a little lazy on holiday, but I really stick with my routine. My lovely therapist at the Met Spa commented on how good my skin was and how firm and nourished my body was. Phew!! A sigh of relief as your skin can’t lie to a professional and you can’t hide it. Plus being a sun lover I was waiting for the telling off… argh!! So I was chuffed to bits to say the least. I actually sent the lovely Fiona from Decleor this pic of my daily skincare rituals whilst I was away, as I did smile to myself when I had laid it all out in my bathroom … she had a chuckle too. It’s obviously paid off as I left the spa feeling really pleased with myself. I Left very quickly as downstairs from the spa is an incredible elite clothes boutique!! Quick exit … Good girl I said to myself. Wasn’t easy with all the beautiful designer labels at arms reach!! Ahhhh. The spa and boutique is family owned. I love this as it has that real personal touch that makes you feel special.
Halloween is always a superb day in America, so if we are there we ensure we are stocked up on treats and single dollars for the children. The dressing up is major. Some a little crazy, some actually scary, and some have me laughing so much as their outfits are not even linked to Halloween. Mary Poppins was one choice and a king with a full on gemstone studded crown was another … amazing crown I have to say!! Just brilliant and well celebrated.
They love their Bulldogs in America, in fact I see more there than I do here in the UK. I manage to get plenty of cuddles, if you know a bulldog they love a cuddle or two or three!! I fact they love their chests being rubbed. Dressing up their pets is a big part of Halloween as they are without a doubt part of the family. We even saw a red carpet pet Halloween night!! Yes you read correctly … mmmmm!! I managed to just about get this pic of a lovely family who looked amazing. We were desperately trying to get out the house for dinner so we ended up taking it in turns to answer the door as we just couldn’t get showered. A crazy night, but as always so much fun to join in the celebrations.
Well it’s back to the Q this week, well-rested and looking forward to bringing you some great shows and TSVs during the Christmas months, and I always look forward to my wedding anniversary. This month it’s been 21 years since I said I do!! Fond memories and I wouldn’t change a thing!! The love of my life.
Did you celebrate anything special recently or escape the cold weather for some sunshine?
Lots of love, health and happiness
