It would be useful to know what the returns charge will be.

Please could you let me know the set price for returning items via the Hermes shop? Would like to compare it with the price I pay at the Post Office.

For those who asked, at the end of this comment is some of the info provided when you click on the link QVC provide. I’m sure QVC collect parcels that are over 4kg for free but pls check.
Light flat items like some jewellery is probably cheaper returned via Royal Mail.
    Info from link:
How much does it cost to return my goods?
You can take your parcel to your nearest myHermes ParcelShop for £3.65.
Alternatively we can collect your parcel from your home on a pre-arranged day for £3.95.
How to return in 6 simple steps
Firstly, you will need access to a printer to use this service.

This is not a good idea if you want your items to go back quickly, so far mine has taken 12 days, and its till not back as yet, it seems you have to allow 18 days, for it to get back to QVC, it isn’t wise to use this service unless you are desperate.

  5. Joanne March 27, 2014 at 1:16 am -  Reply

I thought when I heard about this new returns service from QVC it was free as we do pay for postage and packing to get our parcels delivered. I was disappointed when I read you would be charging for this service. Yes we do have to pay for just now through the post office. A lot of customers would buy more if we knew we could return them free of charge as it’s too expensive.

Hermes have reduced their prices, effective from 26th March 2014.
Will the QVC Hermes return charge reduce too?

  7. Linda Campbell March 27, 2014 at 11:14 am -  Reply

I am sorry but think in this day and age it’s a bit much that QVC still do not offer free returns on smaller items. Surely their marketing department must realise that free P & P and /or returns is a key feature when buying online. In my experience Hermes do not offer a quick service and I really don’t see how this service will be of help to customers. It’s time for QVC to match up!

  8. Edwina Sharp March 27, 2014 at 2:42 pm -  Reply

Why should you not have to pay to return items you do not want, whether via the Post Office or MyHermes? Postage costs are expensive but you know when you buy something from QVC that you will have to pay for the return if you don’t want it so why complain about it?
Whilst I agree it may take longer with MyHermes than with Royal Mail it is a more convenient service for a lot of people who do not have easy access to a Post Office.
    So thank you, QVC!

This is a good idea for the convenience of having Hermes come to your door to collect the parcel. HOWEVER, I agree with the comment posted by Joanne on 27 March, the parcels take ages to get back to QVC. I’ve sent three parcels back using this new service and it takes about 18 to 20 days before the parcel shows as being received back, even though when you track it on Hermes it shows they’ve delivered it within five days from picking it up. If I return a parcel via the Post Office I usually find the refund is in my bank account within 5 or 6 days of posting it and the average cost of returning 1st class via the Post Office is £3. So, more expensive with Hermes (unless it’s quite heavy) and takes three times longer than the Post Office. Think I’ll stick with the good old Royal Mail !

I took my parcels to a designated parcel return shop to be told they had never heard of the scheme. Had to then lug them to the post office.

  11. Karen March 27, 2014 at 10:00 pm -  Reply

I have used the Hermes returns a couple of times now. It does take longer to reach QVC but you can track the parcel and I have had no problems. Unlike Royal Mail, my last parcel got “lost” and never reached QVC. I therefore had to fill our forms and copy post office receipts to forward to QVC before I got a refund. I would not use Royal Mail again to return an item.

  12. julie knox March 28, 2014 at 9:27 am -  Reply

Agree with the comment about the time it takes and the tracking has now stopped 8 days ago so unable to determine the parcels whereabouts. When I tried to chase it I was told that jewellery items should not be returned via this service which is not clear from the information given.

  13. Karin Grant March 29, 2014 at 4:51 pm -  Reply

Haven’t used Hermes for returns but get a great service when parcels are delivered (Margaret & her son have delivered parcels around here for years & they are fab!)However wanted to wade in with the cost of P&P which I have e mailed QVC on quite a few occasions. Returns should be free, as is the case with many on line shops/catalogues, I have reduced the number of orders I make, when I wasn’t sure about an item, particularly clothes, as even with measurements given, they can be way out & can end up costing the best part of £10 for P&P. Also, this idea of being charged separate P&P on everything (even when ordering two of the same thing, albeit second one is half price!) So come on QVC, get in line with your competitors, maybe then will be inclined to order more!

  14. Pauline Smith March 29, 2014 at 8:19 pm -  Reply

Sent three items back via Hermes in one outer box. Despite clear labelling, the return took over two weeks to reach QVC having first being routed to the wrong courier according to the Hermes tracker. QVC have only acknowledged return of one of the three items and not sure even this has been refunded yet as have received no confirmation email. As for whether I will ever get a refund for the other items is unknown as yet, but QVC are demanding proof of postage in their letter to me and how can you provide this for something picked up from your home. Hermes haven’t given me a receipt for any items I have returned via their service. An email booking the pickup is all I have. Love the idea of this more convenient service but needs to be much improved. Also, strangely, it is now impossible to send a parcel to QVC without doing it as a return, and so the service is more expensive for certain smaller items than before.

My ‘new’ Hermes courier leaves parcels with neighbours without leaving a calling card to tell me where it is….when he does leave the parcel he pokes a hole though the plastic bag to loop it over the door handle thus making a waterproof bag completely useless – how about a bit of common sense instead of just dashing around and doing half a job?

  18. Kris Lyon March 31, 2014 at 7:12 pm -  Reply

I have not used Hermes and don’t think I will after reading comments. In the past I have used Royal Mail and haven’t found the postage to be expensive and the service was reliable. As one of the previous comments says QVC should stop charging returns and charging delivery on every item ordered. I would never order clothes or shoes as sizes vary greatly. Plus I have tried to cut down on the amount of goods I order due to the p & P. I have mentioned this to QVC on a number of occasions,

  20. Dawn April 1, 2014 at 9:43 am -  Reply

I agree with others QVC are charging too much for postage in the first place,If I buy several items i would like to pay for one P&P but no, sometimes i go to buy an item for say £8.99 only to find the postage is £3-£4 so i don’t bother. I am sure QVC are putting off a lot of potential customers with there high P&P, come on QVC listen to your customers!!
On the other hand i often read reviews saying “I kept the product because it was too costly to return” if the item is over 4kg ring QVC & they will pick up, no cost, unless they have changed this aswell?

  21. Diane Thorpe April 1, 2014 at 8:28 pm -  Reply

No reflection on QVC customer care which is great, but Hermes service depends very much on the quality of the agent who covers your geographical area . . . over the past few years I have had efficient ones and inefficient ones when delivery of goods bought is a nightmare and puts me off purchasing, especially for gifts which are time limited. Certainly have no confidence in using them for returns, as least with Royal Mail you get proof of return and accountability.

I have had nightmares with Hermes del. over the years,[ parcels not being delivered, going to wrong address, parcels have been returned, even if i have not recieved them in the first place, you can never call Hermes to make a complaint, the tell you to ring QVC], the p&p on some of the items from QVC are getting a bit silly now, because, if you add up the price of the item, add on the pp it comes out to the price they are trying to tell you you have saved. My parcel shop didnt know what i was talking about, so i too had to take to post office. i am now shopping less and less with qvc as the prices are getting too expensive.

  23. Fran April 2, 2014 at 5:33 pm -  Reply

This is my one HUGE disappointment with shopping at QVC. I will often go to another major online store to buy the same item, even if it is on easy pay with QVC, because I will be able to print a free returns postage label. The clothes situation is dire. Sizing is often incorrect and there have been times when I have wanted to order 5 or more items of clothing, but when the p&p is added on at the end, I have either deleted an item to cover the huge individual postage charges, or left the whole lot! There should be one P&P that covers ALL clothing ordered that day and the orders should be combined and posted together in one bag at the end of the day. QVC have some fabulous items, but they are regressive regarding free postage.

  24. Pauline S April 2, 2014 at 6:47 pm -  Reply

I totally agree with every comment on P&P, don’t get me wrong I love QVC, which organisation is willing to allow you to have easy payments on the majority of there products. The P&P is costly and is more to do with the shape of the package for e.g. Today I returned a Dennis Basso Mac not a coat or fur coat a light weight Mac it cost me £11.00 to return this item yes, I nearly had a stroke. QVC please take a look at your packaging you need to modify, because that is were the charges occur. for e.g. This light weight Mac was folded in a square, but sent in an oblong box with enough room for more than two. This is too costly for all.

I have a very good Hermes agent when items are delivered. I have not used Hermes to return anything always use My post office and get proof of posting. I tend to order things I know I won’t need to return due to the cost of postage. I would buy more if postage was less especially with clothes when the sizes vary so much. I will still use QVC, they have such good items and also customer service is second to none.

I have used the MyHermes Return Service for the first time and I am most disappointed.I think we are being mislead that by using a Hermes courier to collect your parcel from your home to return to QVC is quite a speedy process, this is not true.My parcel to return to QVC was collected on Thursday 24th March 2014 and as of today it is still at the Hermes Hub.What we don’t know is that once the returned item is at the Hermes Hub you then have to wait for QVC to arrange for an external company to collect their parcels.I,and I am sure I am not alone in this, presumed that once we pay for the My Hermes Return Service they return the parcel to QVC themselves and NOT someone else.I discovered this after emailing MyHermes this morning to ask why the parcel was still at their hub.In their reply they also informed me that the parcels can take 14 days and even in some cases 28 days before they are collected by the external company, arranged by QVC, to be returned to QVC.

I buy Liz Earle products but have found it much cheaper to buy direct from their website as p&p is usually free and products are packaged beautifully plus delivery is extremely fast. They also always send some freebies with the order making it so much better value for money. Sorry qvc but will buy my products direct from them now..

Like a lot of other comments, unfortunately I too encountered problems using the new MyHermes collection service. It took over 2 weeks from the time of collection for my returned product to arrive back at QVC. The item I had purchased was on 3 easy pays, and this meant that the long, unexpected delay in reaching QVC meant I had to pay the first 2 easy pays for an item that I had returned within the same week of delivery (£100 in total). I found this totally unacceptable.
I was very disappointed, and for once, unfortunately QVC were not very helpful at all. If I need to return an item in the future I will take it to the Post Office as I have done previously and have never had an issue.

I have been a QVC customer for 10 years and I cannot fault customer service it is second to none and the speedy delivery but I agree with everyone else about the cost of p&p, I understand that you should pay for returns if you have changed your mind or it does not fit, but I think people would not get so upset about it if QVC did not charge p&p on every separate item you order ie: if you ordered a couple of items from the same show. I think customers would order more if p&p was combined in this instance or if you ordered from several shows over a 24 hour period, I know I would order a lot more.

Qvc p&p is the biggest downside for me. It puts me off buying so many products,so I buy elsewhere, many stores offer free p&p or one standard price no matter what you order. I see on the qvc fb page it’s a very regular complaint, qvc loose many sales because of this.

I worked for Hermes a few years ago when we had to collect a parcel to be returned we gave the cumstomer a card with a returns number to prove it had been collected. That was the customer proof.
I also agree that p&p is getting very expensive it would be a good ideal to cap the price for several item, also buying the same item in different colour on the one order to come in one packet rather than two.

  37. Karen April 4, 2014 at 11:48 am -  Reply

I buy many things from QVC my only complaint is the P&P I know it has to be paid but if at least QVC would let you but more than one item at a set price I would buy more products than I do the P&P on every item does put me off buying more.

I do too think it’s rather disappointing with regards to postage costs and rather much think this is where QVC makes it’s money. I’ve brought over £200 worth of products and spent about £50 if not more on postage. I think as large a company as QVC is postage needs to be reviewed for it’s customers as people love the products but postage is ridiculous when most other company’s are either free or charge postage as an overall order not on each specific item. You would attract so many more customers if you reviewed the postage. Your a large company based UK and USA-this should not be a problem. Please!!!

I am lucky enough to live near a local PO so will use this to return any goods BUT I now find that I add up the cost of any item on QVC together with their (high) postage costs to determine the actual cost of an item. I will then often go to other on line sites to check prices and often do find the same item cheaper so will not order from QVC. I used to order loads from QVC but not anymore as have discovered that I can often buy cheaper elsewhere or I will decide that it is just too expensive and not place my order. For example I agree with the comment concerning Liz Earle products as I too now use LE’s own website to get my products (though it was through QVC that I discovered her and many other products and I am grateful for that) but QVC do need to (IMO) look at their postage charges like so many of us are saying as QVC are obviously loosing out because of this.
Like others I have also had varying experiences with the courier from MH as it does totally depend on the person (and the company set delivery targets).
Please QVC, do listen to your customers …..PLEASE.

I am curious as to why postage’s charged on Apple products because most are post & packaging free when purchased direct from Apple. There are of course the extras you include, but does that really justify the extra cost.

I thought it was just me till I read the comments above, I love QVC but the cost of postage is much higher than any other on line shopping!!! This means I cant send for more then one item to compare – something. I have recently ordered a tiana b dress that was very light but cost almost £5 to be delivered…
Hermes set price of £ 3.75 is not going to help as you will have already paid huge costs to get your item delivered.
I now order regularly from john lewis who charge £3 for as many items as you like and no returns, much more affordable

  43. Misty April 6, 2014 at 3:13 pm -  Reply

If you buy more than one item, that is under the same item number you should only pay one p&p charge also QVC should cap their postage charge. This new returns service QVC offer is not as convenient as they make out and you may be better off returning via the post office.

  44. Jane Harvey April 6, 2014 at 4:48 pm -  Reply

I agree with all the comments above – the postage and packing charge is excessive when so many companies give free postage these days. How about charging for the telephone lines and reducing the postage? I always order online so I don’t use the telephone services at all. I would order more items if the postage was more reasonable (as I have done in the past, and I have been a member since Year One!)

  45. Carole GOURLAY April 7, 2014 at 3:50 am -  Reply

I agree with everyone on here. The postage prices are not at all competitive as other companies. It annoys me that if you buy two of the same item you are charged twice, albeit half p&p for second item providing it is identical. I don’t shop much at all now, only for stuff I can’t get elsewhere as the hard sell from the presenters irritates me, and when you add up the p&p it’s cheaper to buy on other websites.
Wake up QVC and smell the coffee!!! You will lose a lot of customers if you don’t do something soon. It seems to be a bu bear from everyone.

  46. Fizz April 7, 2014 at 2:12 pm -  Reply

I too have stopped using QVC for most things now, and I’ve complained to them on the phone a few times about their postage. Most people do not buy multiples of the same item – which has to be the same size and colour etc. in order to get half postage on the second item. At the end of the day, if they are not listening to what their customers are saying, they will lose out.

  47. Tobypup April 7, 2014 at 3:24 pm -  Reply

I love QVC but have to agree that shopping with QVC has become a bit overpriced. I can understand with the cosmetics as you get to try them out and return them if need be so that in itself is a great way not to be stuck with a product that doesn’t suit unlike if you buy from a store. But when it comes to fashion there are now so many other companies offering free postage if you spend over a certain amount and offering you the choice of including a select+ return label at a cost of £1.49 to return as many items as you’ve ordered. I also have to agree that sometimes the presenters do a little to much of the hard sell – like telling you it’s selling out when it isn’t. And on several occasions I have rang up before ordering to check the sizes and fit of an item to be told by customer service that they will get my question answered at the next airing – only to be disappointed to find that it’s not and by then I’ve probably ordered it and have to pay the return postage should it be the wrong fit. But apart from all that I still love watching QVC and find it a very entertaining channel that sell some terrific products.

Qvc are amazing! They have a very good track record& are the 2nd most trusted shop in London.
There have been so many times I’ve wanted to order more than one item in same range, but because the colours differ I have to pay P& P on each item.
I do find it expensive, I really love the presenters, they are utterly charming.
Sadly, I’m ordering less & less, this is because of the P&P .
I will continue to buy, but only when there is a reasonable price.

I have shopped with QVC for more than 10 years and cringe at the amount I must have paid in P&P and returns over that time. Everyone on here is commenting on the cost of P&P especially on multiple purchases and the cost of returns and I do think you are probably losing many customers because of it. I never used any other company on line until recently when I discovered I can often get free P&P from other providers or if not free P&P at least returns are free so saving myself a lot of money. Sorry QVC, I was probably one of your biggest fans, always singing your praises and driving my husband mad, but now I am buying very little indeed and cannot see me returning to you much in future. I feel as though I have lost a friend. I would hope some time soon the powers that be who reside on the upper floors of QVC will listen to their loyal customers who so want to buy from you but who are now deserting you.

I am just looking at Kim&Co on QVC. I love the materials but I find clothes on QVC are extremely overpriced and then on top the overpriced p&p. Using Hermes is QVC’s downfall because they are really unreliable, slow and costly. I would not use that service as I do not trust Hermes. Over many years I have enjoyed QVC’s products, professional sales rep. and customer care and it would be truly sad to see QVC going downhill. No customers no sale no staff hence no more QVC!

Must admit I do agree with all the comments on p & p and I have been shopping with QVC since day one. The thing I do not get is when the parcels are delivered, I have a cupboard by the front door and usually leave a sign on the door saying please leave in here and come home to find parcel returned to office as cupboard is not secure and the next delivery is left in the rubbish bin (not even the recycling bin)

I agree Hermes are unreliable when they have tried to deliver I have rung them and told them someone is in up to 1pm every day but I was told we don’t go out until the afternoon and they have left another card about half hour after 1pm you cannot run an efficient courier service that doesn’t have flexibility mist people go to work now days it’s no good just randomly putting cards through the door when they feel like it

P&P charges are out of kilter with your competitors. The short video clip featuring Will Gowing outlining Hermes process I believe is misleading. There’s no mention of a the actual price the standard charge is. Have you ever thought about launching at the very least a scheme that we could subscribe to for loyal customers like a delivery pass… A bit like Ocado do for £10 a month all deliveries are free? A thought and reward for loyalty as well as a form of incentive. Unless P&P changes I will no longer purchase from you along it seems with a growing number of discontented customers

I am not all at impressed with the myhermes/qvc returns service. I was informed today (23/04/2014) by Myhermes that they’ve got my parcel at their returns hub, but it’s now up to QVC to collect it, which can take anywhere between 14 and 28 days. I noticed that QVC left out this very important fact when the feature for this new service was put together. I just thought I’d let everyone know that this service is far from quick.

I have just tried to send a parcel back by Hermes, only to be told that they don’t have a driver so cannot deliver to this address!!!! I agree with all the people on here about the postage charges, it never costs me as much to return the parcel when I take it to the post office as qvc have charged me. I too don’t buy as much because of the postage. Why don’t they set up their own delivery service? I’m sure a company of this size could run their own delivery service at a much more competitive price, and they would not be losing customers because of it.

13.8.14 I have just tried to return a parcel to qvc, not very easy, firstly I’m told you have to pay to return, then it was a whole new story trying to register on Hermes Courier service website, and then the company had trouble with their label printing. God only knows how someone of senior years would coupe. Not happy.

I thought that it was only me ,[blaming my computer ]for not being able to print off the return label I have rang QVC and basically they don’t want to know about this problem, so now I’m thinking of stopping shopping with QVC ,as for Hermes I have a wonderful guy who goes over and above what is asked of a delivery man when delivering my parcels but what a nightmare trying to use Hermes to send a parcel back .

After one experience with a Hermes courier scaling my extension roof to put my QVC parcel in recycling box, I always check how online companies deliver goods; if it’s Yodel or Hermes, I don’t buy.

I will not be using QVC again. I can’t believe it is £3.65 to return something I only paid £10 for. Waste of time and money.

I have found using the myhermes very convenient, it’s much easier to walk to my local shop to return ,which happens to be an off licence so it’s open until 10pm. For 1-2kg it only costs me £2.70. And once you’ve registered on myhermes website it is easy to print off the label. I’ve not encounterd any problems so far but maybe I’m lucky there. It’s nice that if I instantly don’t like an item on delivery it takes me minutes to send it straight back instead of waiting until I visit a post office.

Attempting to return four separate items: firstly via Hermes, where I attempt to enter the required 16 digit barcode online, however all printed barcodes are not the required 16digits!! Arrghh, therefore all barcodes I enter from the returns label are incorrect! For help I search online for advice, find this site, and load the QVC Hermes return video hoping for guidance, and it is of no help whatsoever. Moreover I find that Hermes service is not free. So, I decide to return via Royal Mail for ease due to 16 digit dilemma. However QVC customer service advise I must return each item separately. This means I have to pay four separate postage costs to return four items to the same destination! All other online purchases from every other company I have ever made and returned allow for all items to be returned together with one postage charge, and not make me pay individual postage costs for each item. Some companies go as far as allow me to drop off at collection points and return for free (hence my disbelief Hermes makes a charge).

QVC if you care of your customers and continued custom I suggest you take note and review your return policy. For me, I have learned the hard way, discovering my hard earned money is being unnecessarily wasted by QVC insisting I have to return items separately, with individual return costs that add up to a lot of money, and by charging Hermes returns. I shall not make any more orders with QVC once myauto delivery items are complete (knowing I am happy with these tried and tested items).

This will at least save me a lot of money as i have made many orders via QVC in the past. I can only assume from the individual delivery and return postage costs that QVC make profit from this service.

Further to my previous comment, in comparison of QVC returns and other companies’ returns I that have made, other companies have provided a free returns label, or if not, I have paid a maximum of £3.95 for multiple times sent together, and not insisted I return items separately with separate return charges for each item as QVC are currently insisting I do. This is In addition to other companies allowing me to drop off returns at collection points for free as previously commented (hence my disbelief Hermes makes a charge).

Also, in comparison, I recently sent a 3kg parcel to CA, USA, on a guaranteed 2 day delivery, which cost me £30.00 for multiple items sent together with signed delivery completed within the guaranteed two day delivery time slot.

Whereas the four separate items I wish to return to the same destination at the same time to QVC will cost approximately more than half of the 3kg parcel costs I paid to send to USA. Yet the four separate returns I wish to return to QVC combined weight is far less than the 3kg.

I would be happy for QVC to comment on my experience as part of their customer care service.

I shall not be a returning costumer despite my almost 8 year custom where I have spent a lot of money (and arguably dare I say wasted on individual postage costs). At least today’s experience will save me money in future non-ordered QVC goods.

Just to reiterate, QVC if you care of your customers and continued custom I suggest you take note, review your return policy and minimise unnecessary costs.
