Hello and Happy New Year to you all!
I hope you brought the New Year in in style – I didn’t really, as we were both full of cold and only stayed up to keep the dog calm when the fireworks went off at the pub over the road from us! Still, I am pretty happy just being at home spending time with my “boys” (Lawrence and Monty the dog!)
I don’t normally set much store by New Year and all that, but 2018 was a year of real ups and downs. The first half of the year I am happy to forget, but the second half was a real cracker – getting the job here at QVC, which I love, getting engaged and starting to plan a wedding and, of course, last year we got our lovely Monty, which was the best decision we ever made! I have a feeling that 2019 might just be our best year yet. I hope it is yours too. AND, just for fun, here’s a photo of Monty fast asleep as a tiny puppy.
Christmas was also a bit of a quiet one this year, but lovely to chat to friends and family about the wedding coming up (pretty much just 3 months away now!) and to just relax. I ate A LOT. My Mum put on the most amazing spread on Christmas day and just by having a small amount of everything my plate was stacked.
Speaking of food, I got to try out a delivery from The Real Pie Company the week before Christmas. Wow! Now I know why you all rave about them so much. My Mum and Lawrence were both very pleased too, as they both love a good pie. We got the meat selection and both the chicken and different steak flavours were lovely. It was actually just right for the week leading up to Christmas when you can be bothered to cook or want to save certain things for the big day. My favourite was the Chicken and Leek and as you can see here they really are “crammed to the crust” and full of real meat that was very succulent.
I also really appreciated that they only took 10 – 15 minutes to heat up, because once I’m hungry I need food FAST! There is going to be a Today’s Special Value from The Real Pie Company in a couple of weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for that if you find them as yummy as I do.
Now, after all that talk about food, shall we talk about fitness? Don’t worry, I’m not going to talk about a hardcore training routine but I HAVE been trying out the FitBit Charge 3 for the past few weeks. It’s going to be a Today’s Special Value on 11th January, so if you were thinking about getting one this might be the time! I have one with the new fabric strap – you also get the classic black band but I really like this lilac one. I’m not much of a watch wearer so I wasn’t sure it’d be comfortable, but it really is and I think the fabric strap helps that for me.
Now I’m not a crazy fitness buff, but I do a lot of walking with the dog and I like to stay healthy and the FitBit can really help you do that. I have to admit that I thought up until now that they were only for people who went to the gym all the time, but the truth is, whilst it is a fantastic tool for those people, it’s also great for those of us who just want to stay a bit healthier and have a little help to do just that.
With the deal that we will have on the 11th, you also get a 3 month subscription to FitBit Coach, so if you really are looking to shape up, that can help you out even more. I’ve discovered that I do a LOT of steps when I’m at QVC and often I’m half way towards the 10,000 step goal just after walking the dog. I think of myself as fairly lazy, so that actually made me feel quite good about myself. Lawrence and I took the dog for an 8 mile walk today so I’m on double the target – not that I’m feeling smug (okay, maybe just a little). This is me checking my heart rate after walking up a big hill in the Cotswolds!
It tells me how many calories I’ve burned too and makes me aware when I have been sat down for a long time with the activity tracker. I love that it monitors your sleep too – I am awful at sleeping, as funny as it might sound, but FitBit has indicated that I don’t get much deep sleep at all, so I am now going to try some things to help me get a better night’s sleep as it I so important. You can take the Charge 3 swimming too, so if that’s your favourite exercise, you can keep track of what you’re doing in the pool. That fact also is a big comfort for those of us who still like to get outdoors in the pouring rain!
I’d love to know if you get one and what you think – I am really loving it and like that you can earn badges and get encouragement to live healthier and get more active. Do get in touch and share what you discover about your habits if you get your hands on it on the 11th.
I’m looking forward to this month, as I am going to be joining you for some hours on QVC Live as well as the Style channel and we have some really exciting things coming up. Don’t forget the Big Deals this week either. The Coco Bianco dress we have on the Style channel is already proving extremely popular and I’ve worn it a couple of times already – definitely one to get your hands on if you loved the summer version of this dress. It is so comfortable and flattering and I’ve not yet seen a body shape it doesn’t suit.
Over on QVC Beauty, the Big Deal is the ABC 5 Piece Tea Tree Cleansing Collection. A really popular range here at QVC, Australian Bodycare are great at bringing us products for all the family, which is exactly what you have here. Really useful and lovely for you and your skin.
That’s it from me for this week’s blog, so I’ll wish you Happy New Year once more and I hope that 2019 bring you all health and happiness. Keep your eyes peeled for those fabulous Today’s Special Values and I will see you very soon on QVC and QVC Style.
All the best,
