Well, here we are in 2017. It seems that the years go by faster and faster the older I get, but I’m always excited by the start of a new one – all that possibility and potential ahead of us. I hope you all had a wonderful festive season, or that if it’s not something you celebrate, I hope you got through it OK.
Christmas was a busy one for me, as I worked most of it. Hubby and I stayed in a lovely hotel in London so I wouldn’t have to keep zooming up and down to Gloucestershire, and I brought a little tree from home and set it up in the corner of our room, with all our presents around it, so it felt quite homely!
Hubby even brought his bike with him, so while I was at work he went off cycling around London with a Santa hat squeezed on over his cycling helmet – he really enjoyed it. We had a fabulous lunch on Christmas Day, and there was even a marriage proposal a couple of tables away from us – the whole restaurant cheered when she said yes (imagine if it had been a no!) and it was all rather emotional. Lovely!
I had a few days off over New Year though, and we made the most of it by flying to Finland for two nights. Helsinki is such a great city, and beautifully decorated for Christmas – I loved the giant reindeer, see photos! Of course at this time of year there isn’t much daylight. The sun didn’t come up until around 9.30am, and sunset was just after 3pm, and in between those hours it was a sort of grey, early evening type of light. We crammed as much sightseeing in as we could though, and really enjoyed it (I also managed to buy a scarf and TWO handbags, oh dear!).
So now it’s back to work and making plans for the coming year – I have lots, and I’ll share some of them with you in my next blog. I’m also going to do a big giveaway on one of my January blogs, to mark my four year anniversary at QVC (it was in December, but I thought it would be more fun to cheer up boring January with a giveaway instead!), so look out for that.
Oh – and if you love feeding the birds in your garden, look out for Richard Jackson’s fabulous bird food Today’s Special Value offer on Saturday 7th January. The birds in my garden go CRAZY for this food, but now Richard’s made it even better. I’m going to tweet some photos later this week of the feeding frenzy that ensues when the food appears, so if you follow me on Twitter (@jackiekabler) you’ll see those towards the weekend.
Again, happy New Year. I hope this is the year when all your dreams come true.
Much love
Jackie xx
