Happy 25 years at QVC! And only Fools n horses…

Happy 25 years at QVC! And only Fools n horses…

May I say a very happy 25th anniversary to my lovely pal Jilly Halliday, who has been at QVC 25 years this week. Yes it was 25 years ago around about now, roughly, that Jilly and I started at QVC with Dave Bradford. Back in the day we all did four days a week, four hours a day, with very few guests. We presented capo DeMonte flowers, lead crystal Irish coffee glasses (that was my first product!) And lots of jewellery. We tried to sell beauty products until we worked out that Alison Young did a much better job, and she came on board soon afterwards as our regular beauty expert.

In the same year we also launched a wonderful range of simulated diamonds set in mainly 14 carat gold called Diamonique and Julie and I went on a Thelma and Louise trip out to Philadelphia and visited the factory where they made the designs.

I don’t have many photos from back in the day as when I left QVC in 2000 I had a garage fire and almost everything like that went up in flames! But if I find any I will bring you them over the next few weeks.

I’m very glad that 10 years ago in September, I re-joined. With my six years initially, that makes me at 16 years, only another nine to go, to equal Jilly.

If you are one of our original viewers, what memories do you have over the last 10 years that stick in your mind? One of my favourite nights was having our five years anniversary party with Tony Blackburn hosting, selling a fab CD set, which came with a free double A-side single by… The QVC presenters! We sang the locomotion on one side, and Party Time on the other side with Mungo Jerry. Ah the memories. Look out for photos and all the memories over the next month. And let me know your favourite recollections too!

This weekend’s highlights – as Triple Day continues this weekend, with products on three Easy Pays to mark the third of the third (3rd March), watch out for the incredible Dyson AM09 Hot + Cool fan, the Today’s Special Value offer on Saturday. I cannot be without these now and use one in my bedroom for keeping the temperature exactly right. There is also a wonderful Doll 10 make up set to watch out for at an unbeatable price on Sunday. Today’s special values for those who don’t know, are always one of the best ways to experience a brand. Get them while you can! Today’s is the Beauty Bioscience R45 Three-piece Retinol Collection you can buy here now.

Big deals ending Sunday

Denim & Co Printed Watercolour Floral stretch crepe blouse; the Rio Sonicleanse Glo Belle USB Rechargeable Silicone facial cleanser, Ninja Foodi 8-in-1 Pressure Cooker, Air Fryer and Slow Cooker. Go here to shop and buy them all now.

See below for more about next week’s sneaky peaks.

 Brad’s Outing

Talking of special occasions, Friday 1st March is my son Bradley’s 32nd birthday. He was only seven when I first began at QVC, and may not remember photographing his own bottom on the photocopier when he and Lauren came in with me to the office once when they were small, ha ha. Anyway he and I had a lovely meal together this week, on one of our regular mummy and Bradley outings. It’s so nice we can do this still even though he now has his own family! See below for what we saw at the theatre!

Bareminerals Barepro make-up

Well what a fantastic wardrobe of lipsticks Bareminerals will be bringing to us soon. They last a long time and are fabulous. Meanwhile, go here to see the Barepro selections on our website. And look out for our new Beauty Product of the Month Tweak’d Dhatelo Restore Cleansing Hair Treatment  with free P&P! and Supersize of the Month the Decleor Supersize Gradual Glow 1 Litre

Spring is Springing

I don’t know about you but I loved the brighter, warmer weather last week. See the photo of what my courtyard garden looks like in the spring – Daisy can’t wait either! This year I have planted many, many bulbs and do hope that they will end up looking amazing – they are mainly from de Jager, superb quality. I can’t wait to get back to my place on Monday 4th March after three weeks away, holiday and working! Go here to see our plant offerings currently in the gardening section! Everything is getting very busy for Michael Perry and Richard Jackson’s products!

Watch 1

Only Fools and Horses – the musical

Oh my goodness we had such fun this week when Brad and I went to see only Fools and Horses at the theatre. They have taken some of the most iconic scenes, characters, phrases, and conventions, I did a wonderful soundtrack and a proper cockney singalong type music, and created a hilarious theatre production. They were even offering a piña colada with a great big cocktail umbrella in it, like Del boy makes. Highly recommended – 9/ 10. Will definitely see it again. Paul Whitehouse plays grandad and co-wrote much of it including some of the songs. What a talented man. And the show really took us back in time to when it was one of the most successful TV series ever. Loved every minute.

Watch 2

A Private War – went to the cinema this week as well so I have included two ‘watch’ features instead of a book of the week this week. A private War follows the life of famous war correspondence Marie Colvin. She won awards and accolades internationally for her coverage of some of the most soul destroying conflicts and this film does not pull its punches. Rosamund Pike and Jamie Dornan take the leads of Marie and her photographer sidekick as they bring to the world’s attention some of the most horrendous effects of what man can do to fellow man. It was a little bit depressing but I’m glad I saw it – what an amazing woman. Another biopic – it’s becoming a trend! 8.5/10

This week on QVC

Monday – Moda in Pelle Arcade moccasin shoe

Tuesday – Babyliss PRO Titanium 50mm Ionic Hot Styling Brush with ceramic barrel

Wednesday – Alison Cork matte satin bedspread

Thursday – Vercella Vita Strong Control pack of two cami with rose design

Friday – Bundleberry set of three rectangular nestable rope baskets – look out for this offer from Monday

Next week on the blog – Cannot wait for more birthday celebrations with Bradley at the weekend, as Lauren is down with little Phoebe and I get to hold both babies at once. Plus I am Blake-sitting on Saturday morning after looking after her the night before, so we should have some lovely tales to report next week!

Best wishes

Hi Debbie, wow what a whirlwind your blog is, we always look forward to your photos (especially pooch photos).
Memory wise, it has to be TART-EN-KUMAN with you.
I believe it was Kara Tritton opening a space saver bag and a spider jumping out of it.
I loved watching the PENTEC demos, when they pierced tin cans and still wrote.
We still call Sally-Anne ??Howitt?? better known as SALLY BEE, NECK-LACE LADY as she never said neckluss but neck-lace.
    Have a great week.

Glad that you enjoyed the “Only Fools and Horses” show with your son Bradley. I’m going to see it on Tuesday with hubby and son. Enjoyed your recent vlog with your family in Mexico on a cruise. I don’t know where you get your energy from Debbie. Can’t believe it’s 10 years since you returned to the Q and 25 since Jilly started! Have a great weekend with your grandkids.

My first memory of QVC was the make-up hours for Gillie’s Wedding. The first thing I bought was Diamonique earrings. Set of 2. One pair studs, the other leaver back.
Think I’ve still got them somewhere.
The between show ads were hilarious, but still well done.

Hi Debs. One of my first purchases was a TSV Kim and Co pair of black trousers. Still wear them. My husband loved the Blu-blocker sunglasses sets, which he hung onto till a few years ago. Still have my little secret washable suede jacket. Ah, those were the days. Think of Jilly every time I hear “Love is all Around”.
