Thank you all for the lovely comments following my last Andi Peters’ Food Fest blog and for those of you who joined Andi and I during and after the show on Facebook – a first for both of us! We had a great time and couldn’t move after the show – we made the school boy error of having a pre-show lunch before!!
As previously mentioned, Mum celebrated a “big” birthday in July and last week I drove down to Sussex to pick her up and we spent a lovely day in London – taking tea at a world-famous hotel and later catching a performance of “Guys and Dolls” at the Phoenix Theatre. One of her favourite musicals.
After our tea, served in sumptuous surroundings we “waddled” out of the hotel and realised that we had a few hours to fill before the theatre doors opened so we agreed to try and find somewhere quiet to sit and relax. It’s not easy to find somewhere quiet in London’s West End, particularly at rush hour, as I’m sure many of you will appreciate but we eventually found an empty bench in a pretty little square in Soho, cunningly named Soho Square!
Whilst there we met a lovely QVC viewer, Marilyn, and her friend, who came over to stay hi and I took a quick selfie of us, promising I would include it in my next blog. So here you go Marilyn! I’m not sure she believed I was with my Mum as she said I was always pulling guest’s legs etc – as if I would!
We made our way to the theatre and again realised we were still well ahead of time so I suggested we pop down to a nice little bar beneath the Phoenix Theatre for a quick drink. As we were getting up to leave I heard someone say my name and looked around to see the ever-smiling face of Patrick Hoy from Quacker Factory!
It turned out a friend of his, Clare, was part of the bar’s entertainment that evening and Patrick had been roped/encouraged to be part of the act – I wish I could have seen it! However, they were due on half-way through the first half of “Guys and Dolls”. It’s a small world!
A quick word of thanks – I ordered Mum and I a couple of soft drinks and mentioned to the bar owner that we might pop back after the show. He generously said they were “on the house” as we were coming back after – I insisted I pay but he stuck to his kind offer. However, by the time the show had ended it was quite late and we still had an hour or so to get home and Mum was ready for bed after a long but enjoyable day – so if you are that most generous man, I owe you one!
Back at The Q on Saturday I will be presenting a 15th anniversary show of Northern Nights at 11am with lovely Sam Doubledee followed at midday by an hour of affordable fashions with the irrepressible Michele Hope and at 3pm the welcome return of platinum-plated Diamonique with jewellery expert, Mark Walker.
A question I’m often asked is how can I check the size ring I want to wear on different fingers. It’s a good question, as nowadays rings are worn on all fingers and thumbs! Also our fingers change over time and often we need to re-measure. A quick way to do this is to download our Ring Sizer PDF – follow the printing instructions, have a £1 coin handy to check accuracy and Bob’s a close relative!
Sunday I’m back for two hours with my pal, Richard Jackson, bright and early for a gardener’s 9am start.
Hope you can join me for some of my shows this weekend.
Until next time stay, stay entertained and sparkling!
