So I’ve been a little bit slack on the blog front the last few weeks but it’s only because I’ve had a bit of time off. You may have read that I was going to be going to my cousin’s wedding in Greece, on the island of Kea. Well it was the most wonderful weekend and wedding. As it was during term time I couldn’t take the kids so they stayed home with Fred and I headed to the Island with my sister to join our parents.
As much as I would have loved to have had Fred and the girls with me, I have to admit that it was a real treat to travel without a million bags and toys to keep the kids occupied on a flight. I was able to chill out with a coffee and a book for the first time in a long time!
After a flight and a ferry to the Island we arrived to our Air B&B, which my mum had gone to find for us before we arrived and stocked it with a few bits for the fridge. Mums never stop Mumming do they no matter how old you get?! It was a really beautiful little apartment with the most beautiful views. There was a dinner that night for all 180 guests which was a feast of Greek food. Gorgeous aubergine dishes with humous, meats and cheeses.
The wedding wasn’t until the Saturday night so my sister and I got a chance to explore the Island. We found a lovely little village for lunch and a glass or two of Rose and then hit the beach for a few hours.
You may have heard me saying on air that I was looking for the perfect dress for the wedding. Well boy did I cut it fine in finding something. It was literally the day before I flew that I found the perfect dress and of course I found it at QVC.
What was even more perfect was that it was a dress by Join Clothes which also just happens to be a designer brand from a Greek mother and son! It was the most incredible marigold colour which was perfect for this kind of beach wedding. It also happens to be on an event price at the moment and is available in Cobalt and Fuchsia too. I really love it, it has the most amazing full skirt and made me feel fantastic! I also wore some stunning Butler & Wilson earrings and necklace in beautiful green jade (see pics in the gallery below).
The wedding itself was so wonderful, a beach wedding at sunset followed by dancing and sooooooo much food. It has to be the most international wedding I have ever been to. My cousin, Patrick, is Irish/Indian and he married his beautiful bride Alexandra who is Greek/Guadeloupe and there were 27 different nationalities amongst the guests. It was so much fun.
We got to relax/recover on the Sunday and on the Monday my sister and I had to head off to get the boat back to the mainland. We got to spend the day in Athens before flying home and I was so pleased to be able to tick the Acropolis off my list of places to have visited. It’s incredible, although we picked the hottest day to trek up to the top and practically melted.
We got home late that night and I was so happy to see my girls in the morning, four days seems like such a long time to be away from them. It was only a few days though before I was packing again but this time all of us were going camping at a mini music festival down in Dorset.
Our next door neighbours very kindly leant us their mobile home so I use the term camping loosely seeing as we had proper beds!! It was a fab weekend of music, friends and a few ciders. I loved that the kids could run around bare foot outside all weekend.
Back at work there are a few things I am looking forward to. I am a big fan of This Works Sleep Spray, I’ve used it for a long time now to help me relax at bedtime. The smell of essential oils like lavender are the perfect way to help relax into sleep.
The Today’s Special Value however brings us something extra exciting, it’s not all about the sleep spray! This Works is a skincare brand first and foremost but they know that sleep and stress are key factors to the health of our skin. The collection you will be getting starts with clean skin at bedtime, all over.
You start with the Deep Sleep Shower Gel to wash away the day, you will then follow with the brand new to QVC Stress Check Facial Oil, designed specifically to target the stress that our skin can come under. You don’t need any other moisturiser, it also smells incredible! Next spray your pillow with the sleep spray. Forget eight hours, three is actually the magic number. Each sleep cycle is three hours and we want to aim for three of those cycles.
During the day the ‘Stress Check Breath In’ roller is a must. Swipe the roller over the palm of your hands and take a minute to stop, breath and check in with yourself. Keep it in your pocket or your handbag. So many of us are rushing around getting a million things done in our day that we forget to stop and breath. Make sure to tune in on Wednesday 26th July to hear more from Nicole and Craig and find out why targeting sleep and stress really are key factors to beautiful skin. The whole kit is unbelievably going to cost you less than the facial oil on it’s own!
The next very cool thing I want to tell you about is something for the kids. To be fair it’s a lot of fun for the adults too. I am a big fan of toys that are also educational and the Electro Dough Kit from ‘Technology will Save Us’ is exactly that. It’s a kit for children over the age of three that will bring electricity and technology to life right in front of them.
You make a creation using Play Dough, that you can either make yourself or use ready-made, and then you connect your creation using the kit. Your kids will get to use crocodile clips, LEDs, Jumper wires and tilt switches like real little physics students. This is amazing for creativity, problem solving and of course learning a thing or two about technology.
Boys and girls will love this, Tilda did. Her face when we managed to complete the circuit and light up was priceless. Encouraging girls particularly to get involved in the world of tech and science is something I champion, gone are the days saying that these sorts of things are for boys!! Look out for this kit in the Christmas Morning Show at 9am on Tuesday 25th July. You will be seeing more and more of this range at QVC and I for one am very excited about it.
So that’s it from me for now, I hope you are enjoying your summer so far. Please leave me a comment and tell me what you’ve been up to and as always you can follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
