If you managed to catch my previous blog, you may recall me discussing the annual clear out at the Brook household. Namely, the cupboard under the stairs in particular 🙂
Well the clearing has continued, and I’ve been unearthing a fair bit of technology from many years ago!
My very first computer was the Sinclair Spectrum 16k. I still have it somewhere… but it’s yet to be found. However, I did come across one of my favourite games – Horace Goes Skiing. Also available was Hungry Horace, and Horace and the Spiders! The games were on cassette and had to be loaded onto the Sinclair every time I wanted to play. If there was a poor connection between the cassette deck and the keyboard, you’d have to start all over again.
I also found a mini cassette from the dictaphone I had years ago. I’ve no idea what’s on it. To put the cassette size into perspective I wanted to use a £1 coin. I was out of change so chose a strawberry instead!
Finally, and this is going back the best part of thirty years – my very first electronic organiser. I was 17 or 18 at the time and felt like a top executive. I wonder if it still works? I wonder what contacts I have on there?
It’s fair to say, technology has moved on a fair bit since the 1980’s!
It will be QVC UK’s very first Google TSV.
The Google Home Hub Smart Speaker with Google Assistant. It boasts a 7’’ touch screen display and crystal clear speaker for great sound quality. It will keep you informed and up to date – including news and weather, and it supports YouTube as well. It’s a stunning piece of tech to look at and is brimming with features. All will be revealed and discussed on the day… I hope you can join us.
I’m also thrilled to be launching the Ultrasun Today’s Special Value on Sunday 2nd June at midnight as we head into Monday morning. It’s another brilliant offer and I’ll be in the company of Abi who’ll be there to tell us all about it.
Take care and see you soon,
