Get the latest Britain’s Got Talent gossip from Amanda Holden

With the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals in full swing and the final just a day away, we caught up with Brand Ambassador Amanda Holden to find out how she prepares for the live shows.

Preparing for Britain’s Got Talent must be hectic. Talk us through your routine – hair, make-up, outfit choice.

I like to spend as much time at home with the children and I try to leave as late as possible, so I always get a motorbike to the studio for a 4pm start time with my glam team. My outfits are chosen ahead of time so we’ll discuss hair and make-up. If the dress has a high neckline, we go for an up-do; if it shows off my shoulders then I wear my hair back.

Everything is carefully thought out – the jewellery I wear, my eye make-up, if I can sit down in my dress (I’ve done that before, been completely fitted into a dress and forgot to try sitting!). But really I need to ensure the dress looks good from the waist up as I sit behind the desk for the evening.

So, after you’ve walked to your seat, do you kick your heels off?

Yes, Alesha and I tend to wear slippers. And then we’re scrambling for our shoes when someone comes over to talk to us!

How do you keep occupied during breaks? Do you have snacks under the desk?
Hula Hoops, tangerines in Simon’s case and salted cashews for me. Plus, we’re always being told off for using our phones.

How do you wind down after the show?
I give away tickets to charity so the other judges and I will meet the winners after the show, take lots of pics and then I have a glass of prosecco and go home. And the same thing happens the next day. But every day feels like Christmas Day – that’s the best way to describe it. It’s so exciting!

Finally, who do you think will win BGT this year?
The Missing People Choir are incredible, I think they’ll win. But then again I thought Simon’s golden buzzer girl, Sarah Ikumu, would get through to the final. That’s the great thing about BGT, it’s up to the public and you never know which way they’ll vote – it’s exciting!

Amanda Holden will be back on your TV screens next week – Monday 5th June at 2pm and 9pm – launching her brand new homeware range BundleBerry or you can get ahead of the game and shop now.
