I hope all’s well…
So summer reluctantly lets go of its hat and autumn walks onto the stage to take a golden bow. Well that’s how it used to be around this time of year but as I look out of my window so far it’s only my Mountain Ash in our garden that got the memo!
Every other tree has still got its verdant coat on, with the possible exception of the mighty Scots Pine trees that, although evergreen, do shed quite a few redundant needles at this time of year. I’m not complaining, having just returned from a walk with Ellie and Toby under beautiful blue skies. Talking of blue skies I took a couple of weeks break and managed to pop a quick week away in the Algarve, Portugal in the middle – lovely weather, lovely people, lovely food, lovely part of the world …’nuff said!
I returned to the Q this week with more than an eye on the big “C” that looms ever closer in our plans. We start our Christmas season officially next month but we’ve had previews days already and they’ve proven to be very popular.
This Saturday I’m back with my pal Richard Jackson, bright and early at 9am for a two hour show – there’s still plenty to do in the garden and Richard and guests will be on hand with some great plants, flowers, gardening tools and advice. I hope you can join us – you have my permission to make a cuppa, pull up a chair and relax 😉 I’m considerate like that!
I can’t relax with you as I’m straight into an hour of the great British brand of Dyson at 11am featuring our AM09 Hot + Cool fan Today’s Special Value (TSV). We’ve run this fabulous fan/heater as a TSV several times and rest assured we’ll have a wonderful offer and Easy Pays for you on the day. I’ve owned the AM09 for a couple of years at least and I include this picture of Toby taken the summer we first introduced it to you – as you can see he found it quite refreshing!
On Sunday, we have a great opportunity and a very affordable chance to be a part of the “Alexa” revolution as we feature the Amazon Echo Dot 2nd Generation Smart Speaker with Alexa as our TSV. This is the most compact of the Echo family yet still comes packed with some amazing technology.
Use Amazon Echo Dot to switch on the lamp before getting out of bed, turn up the thermostat while reading in your favourite chair, or dim the lights from the couch to watch a film – all without lifting a finger or even raising your voice.
All the above is possible with Alexa compatible smart home devices such as lights, switches, TVs thermostats and more from the likes of Dyson, Samsung, Philips, Sony, Hive, Tp-link and others. Simply put, it can be your encyclopaedia, weather reporter, calendar, timer, recipe book, radio… OK you get it! Ask Alexa almost anything and she’ll have a very good chance of giving you an answer within seconds. For a starter just ask Alexa, “What can you do for me ?” You’ll be amazed.
I love my technology but I never consider myself a “techie”. Our brilliant guest and my good friend Lee Hohbein also says the same, although I always bow to his superior knowledge. But basically what we are saying is that we love what the technology can do, but more importantly what it can do for us and how can it enrich our lives – without necessarily understanding the minutiae of the complex chips and processors on board.
To use the Echo Dot you’ll need a Wi-Fi network and set up and registration is quick and easy – great if you are already, but you do not need to subscribe to Amazon Prime to enjoy the Dot’s potential either.
We’ll have a great price for you if you want one but should you require two the savings get even better! I’m also hopeful for an Easy Pay offer as well 😉 Find out more by joining Lee and I at 5pm.
Following on at 7pm I’ll be joined by Laurie Wickwire as we discover Luxury Jewellery including diamonds, tanzanite, sapphires and Ethiopian opals! All in all a great weekend awaits!
Until next time, stay verdant and well informed!
