Apologies for the delay in posting a new blog – our social media team have been installing various updates, which has meant we couldn’t post blogs for a while. So, a quick catch up! Since my last blog, hubby and I had a lovely little mini-break in the New Forest. We don’t tend to do summer holidays and with our glorious summer this year, I certainly haven’t felt the need to escape to the sun, but we hadn’t been away together since our trip to Scotland back in April. So off we went for a couple of days to a lovely hotel near Lyndhurst. It was so relaxing, even though the weather wasn’t great, and I particularly enjoyed running in the early morning across the moorland, where the only other living things in sight were some cows and beautiful New Forest ponies. I’m not a fan of road running at all – give me a bit of wild countryside, muddy shoes and a rough trail any day! It just makes me happy.
I’m also such a big kid when it comes to the countryside; when I saw this “standy-uppy” swing hanging from a tree in the woods I couldn’t resist hopping on (however, I was careful! Don’t want any more woodland accidents after my little mishap during my recent 50km race!)
We did get dressed up and had some lovely meals too, though – one of my many jumpsuits (this one is from Kim & Co) came with me and my metallic “Jackie” bag, the bag that Mia Tui named after me (still so chuffed about that!) was the perfect partner. It was so nice to get away even for a couple of days – I have a busy few months ahead (more on what’s going on very soon!) so I now feel rejuvenated and ready to tackle anything!
Talking of nice meals, that leads me nicely on to saying how much I’m looking forward to working with top chef Rick Stein this week. I’ve been lucky enough to eat his divine food at his restaurant and fish and chip shop down in Padstow more than once, so I can’t wait to welcome him to QVC when he joins me on air at 8pm on Friday 24th August for the first Rick Stein’s Kitchen show. His gorgeous collection of cookware and tableware has been on the QVC website for some time, and there’s a lovely story behind it too, so I can’t wait to hear all about that while we see it being used by the man himself! He’s going to be cooking for us on the show, so it will be a bit of a mini culinary masterclass too, which will be so interesting. Do join us.
Now some beauty news. Friday 24th also sees the latest Today’s Special Value offer from pioneering Australian skincare brand Alpha-H.
Their global best seller, Liquid Gold skin retexturing and smoothing complex is one of my all-time favourite products; I’ve often spoken on air about how I’ve had amazing results with this. The Today’s Special Value kit includes supersizes of Liquid Gold, Absolute Eye Complex and Essential Hydration Cream and is worth over £113. You’ll be able to buy it for a greatly reduced price for one day only on Friday, and I think it’s the perfect buy for this time of year, especially after our heatwave summer.
And finally, a quick heads up that the LAB sisters Lauren and Charlotte will be bringing us another great Today’s Special Value offer on Saturday 25th August. This time it’s their Lip & Eye Focus (a nifty little battery operated tool specifically aimed at those wrinkles around the eyes and lips). If you use this to massage in your normal skincare products (water based, not oils), it helps to reduce the appearance of puffiness, visibly improves tone and firmness and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and increases hydration too.
The gadget, which uses a combination of technologies including EMS (electrical muscle stimulation), comes with a pair of under eye masks and a lip mask this time to really give those problem areas a boost. And it’s going to be incredibly affordable too, so definitely worth a go if, like for me, it’s the eye and lip lines (ugh!) that bother you the most.
That’s it for now – don’t forget if you’re a social media user you can always say hello to me on Twitter (@jackiekabler) or Instagram (@officialjackiekabler) too.
