Well, if any of you are like me and love a good wedding you’ll still have a big smile and warm fuzzy feeling inside after last weekend’s Royal Wedding.
I’ll be honest, I was feeling a tad tender last Saturday after going out with friends from work as we bid a fond farewell to one of our lovely colleagues, Alex. We also caught up with another very dear friend and colleague, James, who has recently left us. It was bittersweet as we would love to keep all our favourites at the Q forever but it was a great night. We are so very lucky that we work in a job where we not only like the people we work with but we form lifelong friendships. I think we are going to have to put a big padlock on the door to stop these young, talented people from leaving!
Alex is the gorgeous blonde in black and red at the front of the photo. James is harder to spot in this piccy but he is to the left of me and appears to be wearing white contact lenses, like many of the others. I actually think it was the flash on the camera, ha ha!
Lee Hohbein, our QVC tech expert extraordinaire, and I tend to gravitate to each other on nights like these. We have a shared love of cheesy music and calorific cocktails and are usually last to leave the party! Not only were we last to leave the do but we carried on the fun until the early morning hours in London’s soho. Silly photos always crop up the next day, too!
After such a heavy night I allowed myself to fester away in bedroom until the afternoon of Saturday. I can’t recall the last time I did that. I’m definitely getting older as it takes me a lot longer to get over a late one! I watched all of the wedding excitement from my bed, only getting up for the odd glass of water, and I thought it was pretty perfect in every way. Huge congratulations to the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex. This new generation of royals are heralding seismic shift in the history of the Royal Family. I greatly look forward to seeing how the newlyweds will continue to make good use of their position of influence. One of my absolute favourite moments, though, featured the small page boy who totally upstaged the bride when he lit up tv screens throughout the world with his gappy little smile when the trumpets were sounded. I’ll stop now or I’ll never stop. I had so many favourite moments and can’t stop singing ‘Stand by Me’. Those of you who watched will know why.
That was Saturday. Sunday, I went out to lunch. I went to the ladies room and popped my sunglasses onto the top of the cistern of the toilet not realising that it sloped, ever so slightly, downwards to the loo. I think you can guess what happened next but, if not, just take a look at the photo below.
Yep, my sunglasses went right down the pan! Thank goodness the toilet looked immaculately clean as I had to go in after them. Now that my eyesight is not as good as it once was I have to have expensive varifocals. Yes, these are the most expensive prescriptive sunglasses I’ve ever owned. There was no way I would be leaving without them. The glasses and I are now over our trauma and recovering well!
I gave my friends on social media a little giggle with this series of photos last week so I thought I’d share it with you, too. I have a wardrobe of shapewear but the ones I wanted were in the wash. I opted for these older (and much smaller) ones. It was quite a workout getting into them but, once they were on, it was pretty clear they weren’t easily coming off. Seeing as I am fond of my internal organs and ribs, and didn’t want them to come to any harm, I decided there was only one way out and that was via the gift of the scissors! Oh the relief! I think you’ve heard this during our shapewear shows many times:“go for the size you are, not the size you want to be”. Well, that will be ringing in my ears for some time to come. You live, you learn.
If you love your gold then make a note in the diary for this coming Sunday evening. From 9pm until midnight it’s ‘Gold Fever’! A glorious and glittering showcase of some of the hottest looks in gold jewellery as well as the classics. There are special deals and Easy Pay offers throughout the three hours and our gold expert, Jan Springer, will be joining us, too. Her knowledge and love of gold is as fascinating as it is vast.
I hope you are having a great week. I’ll be back here next Wednesday with more weekly ramblings!
Lots of love,
