I had a rather special celebration at the weekend… a night away with my oldest friend to mark 40 years of friendship. I met Judith when we were both 12, when my family moved in two doors down from hers in Sligo in the west of Ireland at the start of the school summer holidays. I was the oldest of six and she was the oldest of four, and it quickly emerged that we were both about to start at the same secondary school that September. We hit it off straight away – that summer we became inseparable, and four decades later we are still going strong.
It was an anniversary we couldn’t let pass without a bit of a party, so we took ourselves off to a lovely spa hotel in Berkshire where we had divine massages, hung out by the pool, ate far too much and, of course, took some silly photos! I had dug out this photo booth shot from when we were 17, so we decided to try to recreate it. After many attempts, this was as close as we could get. It makes me laugh so much – why was I hiding behind Judith like that? (And yes, that dark mop is my natural hair colour… almost black in those days!)
I feel very fortunate to have had so many years of friendship with such a wonderful woman – here’s to the next 40!
As luck would have it I had a very nice new suitcase to take away with me. One of our Big Deals at QVC this week is a set of three cases (large, medium and cabin-sized) from Antler, in a gorgeous metallic finish and at a frankly crazy price (£199.98 for the three, versus a price of £517 if you were to buy them direct).
I had the Rose Gold, and they’re also available in Charcoal. Eight wheels which rotate 360 degrees mean they’re super-easy to manoeuvre and they’re made from the same material as car bumpers so they’re really light but tough.
I realised as I was packing that almost everything going into the case was from QVC! Those are my gorgeous cool blue Bronx trainers, my white snake Vionic trainers, and my stripy gaucho Coco Bianco jumpsuit. The sunglasses I’m wearing in the photos are from Pilgrim and have become real favourites this summer. And the t-shirt I’m wearing in the photo with my suitcase is from Label Lab – cool and comfortable in this warm weather.
Actually, speaking of favourites (and amazingly for me, someone who tends to shy away from floral patterns!) I’ve become a little obsessed with my floral dress from Joe Browns this summer too. I’ve worn it a lot on air and also for going out – I love it!
Before I go, a quick peek ahead for you to the Margaret Dabbs Today’s Special Value offer coming up next Monday the 6th of August. I was delighted to be invited along to Margaret’s lovely salon in Cheltenham to have one of her famous medical pedicures (great for my battered runner’s feet!) and try the products. The kit includes their amazing foot file which makes short work of all that hard, dry skin, plus the foot hygiene cream and a supersize foot soak. My feet were transformed afterwards, and I love that you can get the same results at home just by using these great products.
That’s it for now, have a great week!
Love Jackie x
