Friends, spooky walks and more gift ideas

Hi all,

It’s been an emotional couple of weeks for various reasons. A lovely friend tragically lost a loved one, which reminded me once again how short and precious life is, and how we should never miss an opportunity to tell those who are important to us that we love and value them. On a happier but no less emotional note, our friend and colleague Miceal Murphy finally came back to work after four long months away (he explains all in his latest blog). We were so worried about him while he was off and it’s wonderful to have him back – I missed him so much I frequently dreamed about him, one particularly weird dream featuring him returning to work with a massive bushy beard and insisting on going on air in a bright floral Kim & Co top. I kept him informed about these dreams via text message… sorry Miceal, and welcome back!

I also had my annual December meet up with my oldest friend Judith this week. We always try to do something a bit different for our pre-Christmas get-together…it was with her that I went ice-skating a few years ago and ended up in hospital after breaking my wrist and having to have surgery to insert wires to fix it the day before Christmas Eve! This year we decided to avoid dangerous activities and instead headed to east London for an evening “Jack the Ripper” walking tour. It was brilliant – our guide was really engaging and knowledgeable and it was fascinating and eerie hearing the stories and seeing the locations of the Whitechapel murders, with many of the buildings that were there in the 1800s still there today. Not very festive and definitely a little gruesome but SO interesting!

I also finally got to see the cover of my first novel with HarperCollins this week – it will be released in April next year and is a change of direction for me, in that it’s quite a dark, psychological suspense novel. I’m thrilled with the cover design, which I think is really striking but also quite sinister…what do you think?

Right, time for some sneaky peeks of upcoming Today’s Special Value offers for you. First, on Friday the 7th, a Lola Rose infinity scarf which comes in its own pouch and in seven colour choices. It’s light but super soft and cosy. I nabbed the “Hearts Blue” option to try, plus the matching bracelet we’ll also have available on the day to go with each colour option. Here’s a photo of me in both…I do love blue!

Next, Wednesday the 12th’s offering is from Radley in the very cute form of their Glitter Dog Silicone Strap watch. It’s been created especially for QVC and comes in Red (see my picture), Taupe, Navy,  Purple, plus Blush and Teal (not pictured). The silicone strap is very soft and comfortable to wear with a little dangling charm attached, and the glitter dog on the face is just adorable!

And finally, Kipling fans will be getting excited on Thursday 13th when we’ll be getting the Sinala premium shoulder bag at an amazing price. It comes with the pom-pom monkey charm (my favourite style of Kipling monkey, so cute!) and in a choice of Grey (with a Chloe monkey… maybe I should get this for Chloe Everton for Christmas!), Aubergine (with Maria monkey), Black (not pictured), Red (both with Tibe monkey) and Navy (Ille monkey).

That little lot may help you out with your Christmas shopping! See you soon.

Love Ghost Walks! Not just for the atmosphere, but location too and especially if you also have a good guide and block out any knowledge you have of the area too. New Orleans, USA, is a particularly enjoyable one for me!

Hi Mila, I’ve never been to New Orleans but if I’m ever lucky enough to go there I’ll put that on my list!

Hi Jackie talking about weird dreams last night I dreamt we were friends and had decided to go out and party when we crossed near a restaurant that were desperate for staff and you decided to work for them on the stop meanwhile we were enjoying the ambience and the music then you called me to go and get 2 bottles of God’s of Egypt a film I saw days ago, so off I went , I remember then trying to find the bottles in despair as you needed them I looked like a crazy woman going everywhere, and in the end I found the bottles, somehow you were inside the bootle and I was leaning forward to see u and then I was off into another adventure in my dreams…oh my we surely can’t control our dreams, but it was so much fun to Party with you,Lovely Blog by the way Merry Christmas to you and all your family and God Bless.Happy Dreams

Hi Jackie so pleased you enjoyed your Jack the Ripper experience I grew up not far from there and know it well my husband was a London black cab driver for over 30 years and was often asked by tourists to take them around where Jack did his evil deeds and he became quite knowledgable on the subject I also worked close by there for many years and some people really do ask some unbelievable questions like one American lady asked him ” can you still see any of the blood ” ????? Im not sure what his answer was ??but glad you had a good time ….Have a lovely Christmas love all your shows xx and meant to say how much I missed Michal and was soo happy when I saw him back please give him a big hug when you see him from me xxx
