Fresh start, fresh veg

I have finally surrendered to the fact that the New Year is here and the time for indulgence is well and truly over. Enough of the procrastinating and prevaricating. The boxes of mince pies sitting calling to me from the kitchen shelf need to be ignored (or at least put out of sight!).

No longer can I celebrate the sight of a box of Celebrations on the kitchen table! I have started back on the path of fresh fruit and veg.

I’m steaming, boiling and baking them, as well as now blending them into smoothies on a daily basis. I’m not alone either, Claire Sutton was telling me that she has been making smoothies as well, to try and bring some balance back, and it has really been working for her.

My only problem is, I usually buy them in bulk and then worry I won’t get time to eat them before they go off. Then I’ve wasted money, as well as perfectly good food – a double sin, as mortal as they come, in the hierarchy of sins in an Irish household!

Well, I need not worry because Ecoegg are here to help. Their Today’s Special Value this Wednesday 24th January is a set of 16 Fresher For Longer discs, that come with two suction cups (that I believe aren’t available anywhere else) you can place in the fridge along with your fresh fruit and veg and help to do exactly what they say – keep them fresher for longer. So simple yet so clever, just like all of the inspirational ideas from their team.

It isn’t just for those of us who are detoxing or juicing though, it’s for anyone who regularly buys fresh fruit and veg at any time of the year. Think back to how many apples, bananas, or tomatoes etc you threw out last year?

That’s not just wasted food, but wasted money as well! As each disc lasts for three months – and you are getting 16 of them – that works out at four years worth of ‘fresher for longer’ veg and fruit that you will get to eat and enjoy, as well as gaining the benefits from!

The suction cups included mean you can pop them anywhere inside the fridge. It’s such a good idea and will save me so much money as, shamefully, I must admit I end up throwing away so much stuff; the last of the punnet of grapes, the remaining leaves of the cavolo nero, the berries with the fuzzy fur growing on them. Waste of money, waste of food, waste of time! But no more! I shall definitely be getting these to keep in the fridge.

If you do get them this Wednesday 24th January because you want to improve your fruit and veg intake, might I suggest keeping your eyes open for the Nutribullet Today’s Special Value coming up soon on QVC. Between the two, you will be totally covered for all your fresh fruit and veg needs!

Right I’m off to make a kale, avocado, blueberry and cacoa smoothie… who wants one?

Until next time,

Miceal xx

I’m not sure I like the sound of your smoothie Miceal. Doesn’t all that veg make you windy? LOL

    Hiya Miceal
Glad you are enjoying your smoothies, I like them as well, not so much though when it looks too green, but they are good for you.
    Nice blog as usual.
Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year.
    Much love
    Elizabeth ?
