Food festivals, Get Gorgeous and more!

Outside of QVC

By now you probably know that I’m a real foodie! I love cooking and I love shopping for food too and thinking about what I’m going to cook. One of my absolute favourite things is street markets, I love the bustle and the chats with market traders and taste testing cheese and olive oils. So this week with the Christchurch Food festival on there was no question where I was going to be heading. So on Sunday, with the promise to the girls that there would be lots to entertain them too, we headed over to the yearly festival jam-packed with stalls and bands performing in the streets. They put on big tents for cooking demos too and it was really nice to also get a chance to catch up with Dean Edwards, who I do the Weekend Kitchen with as he is also an ambassador for the festival. He was sharing his cooking tips with the audience and generally enjoying the buzz of the festival.

We had a great day out even if we did get absolutely rinsed of cash by the girls on all the rides. It’s worth it though when you see their little faces on the carousels and bouncy castles! The circus skills tent was fab though as one it was free and two Fred and I got to join in too. We tried our hands at juggling, stilt walking and baton twirling, none of which had us close to mastering in any way but we enjoyed it all the same.

I had a fun show with Abby and Tracie this week with the Dyson Supersonic. We have the latest accessory to come with it in the shape of the magnetic stand. Of all the additions that have come with it I think this is my favourite. It’s really convenient and looks very slick I think. I have been on the fence for a while trying to decide if it’s time for me to invest in one as, for most of us, this is a considered purchase. I have seen the results of consistent use of this hairdryer and the difference it makes to hair health in the long run, I know you can achieve fabulous styles with it too. It’s simply been a matter of do I want to spend over £300 on a hair dryer?

I also know that my kids prefer it to our regular hair dryer because it is so much quieter. What’s really doing it for me now though is that it is now on 6 Easy Payments, far less of a punch to the wallet doing it that way so I think I am convincing myself it’s now time to go for it. The demand for it is as big today as it has ever been, particularly now that it has the slick new stand. You’ll be seeing it this Friday and Saturday no doubt as it’s the Get Gorgeous event on QVC and so it will be featuring as part of that. More on that event later.

What I’ve been wearing – Phase Eight Jennie Jumpsuit

I realised I have been featuring a lot of dresses lately so I thought this week I should change it up a little. I’ve picked a fab jumpsuit called the Jennie Stripe Jumpsuit from Phase Eight. This is a great alternative to summer dresses, particularly if like me you like to be able to run about chasing the kids without flashing anyone!! It’s 100% Linen so it feels lovely and lightweight and cool. The pinstripe draws the eye down the body so gives quite a slimming effect and the tie waist breaks it up nicely.

I teamed it with a white T-shirt underneath it as I’m not a big fan of the tops of my arms so it gives me a little more confidence but it works really well without too, it would also work with a blouse underneath. It has a zip down the back to get in and out of it. I’m in the size 12 as I would expect to be and it’s just right. I think this works for a casual look but you could also get away with wearing this to the office with a blazer, with the 3/4 length trousers it’s a good opportunity to show off with your shoes! I will be wearing this for going to friends for BBQs and generally being out and about.

What Tilda’s Wearing!Tikkers Lilac Unicorn Watch

This half term at school they are concentrating on a few specific things. Times tables and telling the time. Times tables I hate so I am having to grit my teeth and help with that one as much as I can but with telling the time I knew I could help. More specifically Tikkers watches would help with that one! I had recently had them on air and earmarked getting one for Tilda. I ordered it at the weekend and it arrived a few days later. Her favourite colour at the moment is purple and she’s obsessed with unicorns so this couldn’t have been more perfect.

What is so special about this watch and why I wanted it for her is that it is designed to help teach how to tell time on an analogue dial. On one half it is pink for the ‘minutes past’ and on the other it is blue for the ‘minutes to’. It is also clearly marked at 5 minute intervals and even shows a 1/4 at the 3 and the 9 position to help them with the quarter to and quarter pasts. I think this is really going to help Tilda get her head around telling the time so it’s worth every penny in my opinion. There are also other colour options if the Lilac isn’t right for your little ones.

In BeautyTalika

I have been trialing a Today’s Special Value that is coming to you on the 23rd May. It’s from Talika and it’s a light therapy mask. Talika have been working on Light Therapy in aesthetic applications for over 10 years. We are seeing this sort of thing more and more in the beauty world both in clinics and for home use. This particular mask targets some key issues. Anti-ageing, radiance, detox, dark spots, blemishes. This particular mask offers something a little different to others though as it also includes Electrostimulation for lifting, firming and toning!

It has two built-in pads that you need to wet first and then they send a current over your skin. I have been trying out all the different settings but I have been concentrating on fine lines and brightening. I like that this is quick as you only need to use it for around 4 minutes but also I like that it doesn’t cover your entire face. It will still have an affect down the face as the light reaches below the nose however it’s not as restricting as a full face mask.

It looks very futuristic and you can also still see out of it when you use it. Your eyes are protected by rubber eye holes and it’s charged by a USB lead. I’m really excited by the before and after results that Talika have had with this, which you will see on air on the 23rd. You will also have time to see results for yourself with the 30 day money-back guarantee. Set the reminders folks!

Coming up at QVC – Get Gorgeous

I mentioned earlier about the Get Gorgeous event, it starts on Friday 17th May and carries on through to Saturday. It will be two days of fabulous fashion, accessories, jewellery and beauty to…well….get gorgeous! It should be a lot of fun and there will be plenty of new things to get you excited. I spotted a few things that looked like they might be popular which I have shared with you here.

The Ben de Lisi Crepe Cap Sleeve Hi Lo Top comes in Black Ivory, Red and Jade. The Lulu Guinness Valerie Cross-body – I particularly loved this in Dusky Rose for Summer. Diamonique will be popular I’m sure with pieces like this Marquise and Round Cut Ring and the Pave Star Friendship bracelet. MarlaWynne continues to shine as a favourite at QVC and I am a big fan of the Luxe Crepe Shirt. It just falls so well and suits so many body shapes.

Radley will be making many appearances and the Greyfriars Gardens Tote Bag is a real classic. I always need a bag this size as I take a lot with me for the kids and also things for work. I would choose tan for the summer.

Maxi dresses are always a winner for holidays and summer occasions and this one from Nina Leonard has been very popular. Perceptions is a new brand to us that I am seeing more of, I really loved the polka dots on this printed dress.

That’s just a selection of things you might like to look at but there will be so much more including the Today’s Special Value Mascara wardrobe from Benefit which is available now.

One more thing to tell you about coming up on Monday is a Today’s Special Value from Women with Control and Renee’s Reversible Tummy Control Cropped Trouser. They are block colour on one side and print on the other so two looks for the price of one! They also have the control panel which helps to smooth across the tummy area which is an extra win. These are going to be great for those days when you want to be active and comfortable. I would be using them for my power walks down at the beach.

Well that’s it from me this week, I will be in over the weekend for the Get Gorgeous event but also hopefully enjoying some family time too. We are looking forward to a half term in Cornwall soon so any tips on where to go would be lovely. We are definitely heading to the Eden Project, anyone been?

Have a good week

Love Katy x
