Also this week, big kitchen brand Le Creuset is back…. And a funny blooper!
Fab flowery hen-party for daughter Lauren!
Ohhhhhh what a marvellous afternoon we had, indeed. Like mother like daughter, my Lauren celebrated her last few days as a singleton, by booking a flower-crown-making afternoon party at Dotty’s tea rooms in Carshalton, with its vintage décor and forties music, she – and I – was in heaven. Lots of her pals and our family came, and tea and cake were quaffed by all.
We had a lesson first off, from Helen who does flower design classes. I thought I was going to be rubbish, as usual with stuff like this. Flower arranging was one of the things that ‘beat me’ back in school – along with making a dress in needlework classes at Willows High School in Morden back when I was 14, with the old-fashioned manual sewing machines (god that sounds ancient!) But I quite enjoyed making my one and learning how to do it – perfect for when we make the rest for this weekend’s actual Big Day! The newlyweds will be making their own … practically everything! And because it’s in a stately home garden, in Sussex, they need to bring everything in, from catering to loos, to a generator to tepees! But not a tepee to pee pee! Hee hee! Here are some more pics from the weekend
Fingers crossed, everyone, for some great weather this Saturday!
This week’s crazy good deals
Just wanted to say a little about two upcoming deals…
Lovely top from Chris Fink, join us Sunday midnight and through Monday!
I do love this guy and some of his clothes are so easy to wear. This is the brushed swing cold shoulder tunic, under £30 and Today’s Special Value launching Sunday midnight and on through the day Monday.
Final product Le Creuset
And on Thursday if you adore big kitchen names, do join us for the next big deal from Le Creuset, no less – the 30 cm shallow casserole with grill lid on easy pay – so worth buying one now even if you tuck it away for a pressie later, as we do such good deals! I’ve got the 7pm show. This is the type of pot we would do a massive stew or one of Wendy’s famous bolognese concoctions!
SNIPPETS
Detection Dog Derek and Me Went to see my lovely little sponsor dog Derek down at Medical Detection Dogs HQ this week and had a lovely catch up – he’s such a gorgeous boy and is doing so well. He will soon go to his matched owner, who has diabetes, to help make his life easier. I’m so proud to have been involved by naming him (after my late dad, if you didn’t know) and helping as an ambassador.
Puppy Love One of the reasons I go is to see puppiiiiiiieeeeeesssss!!! Here’s little 12 weeks old labrador, Ilsa, and ten-week old cockapoo type pup Banjo, who will be a little stud dog to introduce some smaller breeds. It’s an amazing cause and I’m glad to be involved. Had another super rehearsal this week for the upcoming concert in Devon in Torrington – can’t wait – and in particular to bake some more cakes for the vintage tea rooms event at ours the next day. I’m going to experiment with my Banana Bread and see if it goes before Wendy’s flapjacks!
Lindy’s feeling better Went back early enough on Saturday after work to actually have some home time and family time, with sis in law Boki (whose house I stay in ) and sister Linda, who is very much better now following her recent health scare. Sepsis is a horrible thing and she is going to do a blog about it with my help, to help people to know what to look out for.
Book of the week – ‘Only Time Will Tell’ by Jeffrey Archer. I used to read Jeffrey Archer books years ago and spotted this one. Since it’s set partly in the 1920s, the era of the current book I’m writing, I listened to the audio book this week and boy is it good! Typical poor boy done good with a family secret that changes everything type story and I’m loving it.
Facebook vlog of the week – Also, regulars, here’s another of this week’s vlogs (video blogs) as I took the dogs for a little walk down the local country lane – click here with an important bank holiday question I’d like you to answer if you can – email me info@debbieflint.com :- )
BLOOPERS –
Banana lolly!
Dad dancing from Richard
Facebook Funny
Watch – it’s heeeeere!! Strike – by J K Rowling. OK, not strictly by JK but Robert Galbraith, her crime writing alter-ego. I LOVED the books – three so far (see previous books of the week on my website) so am thrilled this is now on TV – on iPlayer – watch it on catch up. The anti-hero, one-legged ex-war hero Cormoran Strike with the rock star father and chequered past, is a private detective who has a unique way of dealing with things. It’s very well done, according to most feedback. Watch it yourself and see why.
