Outside of QVC
Rain rain go away come again in about 3 months, that would be great. Oh well at least the kids haven’t broken up for summer yet as it’s so much harder keeping them occupied when it’s raining, not to mention more expensive! We managed to make it out at the weekend for Father’s Day in between the rain though. We had planned to do the Park Run in the morning but we didn’t want to drag the kids around in the rain, it’s hard enough when it’s sunny.
The theme had been superheroes in honour of the dads and everyone was encouraged to dress up. Ivy had her costume ready the night before and insisted on sleeping in her Wonder Woman dress over her pyjamas. So even though we didn’t do the run she still stuck to her guns and stayed as Wonder Woman all day. We headed over to Moors Valley as soon as the rain stopped and hit the adventure playground there. Ivy introduced herself to everyone as Wonder Woman, followed by a side whisper of ‘I’m not really, I’m Ivy’. The day was finished off with a roast dinner in one of our locals with a good group of friends. Perfect Sunday if you ask me.
On Tuesday I was lucky enough to get to go and see one of my all-time favourites, Fleetwood Mac. Their music has been a soundtrack to my life since I was a kid as my mum played it in the car on road trips. I will always remember the start of ‘Don’t Stop’…thinking about to tomorrow’, my sister and I thought the rhythm sounded like a typewriter and we would pretend we were typing in the back seat.
Stevie Nicks is one of my heroes and so when she sang Landslide I have to admit it made me cry! It was a great night out with my girls and we danced and sang our hearts out. I didn’t take that many pictures as I was having such a good night but I got a few and even a selfie with all the football trophies, well it was Wembley after all!
What I wore
My outfit was almost entirely QVC. I got to wear my new Live Unlimited Skirt in the most brilliant colour clash of pink and orange. I wear a size 12.
I teamed it with a grey T-shirt (which I later changed to a slogan T-shirt with Arizona written on it, in tribute to Stevie Nicks, being from Phoenix, Arizona). Over the top I wore one of my favourite Helene Berman coats.
We’ve been having a very busy month at QVC with Beauty Month meaning there have been so many great offers to snap up, don’t forget all beauty in this event has reduced P&P of £1.95. This week I will be sharing my go-to hair products which I will tell you about in a bit but I wanted to step away from beauty for a minute and talk fashion. I have started doing some interviews on my IGTV on my Instagram called ‘5 Minutes with…,’ you may have seen my first one with Jules Von Hep from Isle of Paradise.
I want to be able to do the chats with our guests and presenters at QVC that we don’t have time to do on air so you can get to know a bit more about them. So this week I have interviewed one of my favourite fashion guests, Ashling McCloy, to hear a bit more about how she got into the fashion industry. Click here to watch.
My go-to hair products
So here we go, my current favourites for keeping hair in great condition. We have a lot of hot styling done to our hair at work so it’s important to keep it looked after. So here is what I use on mine. Remember my hair is naturally curly so needs a little extra love sometimes from damage, dryness and breakage. I’m afraid some of the products are out of stock but I didn’t want to leave them out as they are the products I genuinely use. They will be back so keep a note if you are interested in them.
Taya Inner Core Anti Breakage Shampoo and Conditioner. This is designed to help increase strength and elasticity from within and help prevent breakage. I am trying to grow my hair at the moment so I want it to be as strong as possible.
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer – I am currently using the Pomegranate and Cassis Limited Edition version which is out of stock but we have the 2-piece collection available in the original formula. Or you can stock up on the supersize 500ml. This product is iconic, I think every one of the presenters uses it! It’s a pre-shampoo, conditioning product that you use on wet hair and leave for as long as you have time, be it 10 minutes or overnight. It’s a massive dose of hydration to the hair cuticle and leaves your hair sleek and silky and majorly conditioned. I won’t be without it.
Percy & Reed Wonder Oil – Annoyingly out of stock right now but keep an eye out for it coming back! I use this as a smoothing serum after washing my hair and before drying it. It helps combat the frizz of my curls.
Colour Wow Dream Coat – This product is amazing! Use it on wet hair after washing and spray liberally all over the hair. It coats the hair with an invisible water-resistant coat which can last up to 3 washes! If you get frizzy hair in humidity then you must try this. Perfect if you are going away somewhere warm but also for nights out like a packed bar or club. (side note, I haven’t been to nightclub for years!!)
Living Proof Dry Shampoo – How did we get by without dry shampoo eh?!! I use this on days that I don’t want to wash my hair. I try not to wash it every day as it dries mine out so I reach for this. Spray in at the roots and all over and then comb it through. It helps refresh but it’s also a good texturiser for when you are styling freshly washed hair and it’s all slippy.
Living Proof Dry Volume Blast – I only discovered this product this year and I will now be using it forever. I like my hair to look full, particularly at the bottom where it can get a bit flat looking. So I use this to build the shape of my bob, mainly around the bottom. I don’t put this anywhere near the roots on my hair, but you can totally do that it you want lift and BIG hair. It’s also a good one for creating texture for ‘up dos’.
In terms of hair tools I have recently discovered a fantastic brush at QVC. The Manta Anti Static Flexible Hair Brush. Currently on Waitlist but due this month so get your name down! As I am trying to grow my hair I really want to be gentle with it so this brush is perfect. It was originally designed because the creator’s wife had lost her hair due to treatment and said that ‘she wished she had bristles on her fingers’ so she could brush her hair super gently.
The Manta brush bends like no other brush so moulds to your hand shape. I love how this helps to brush product through my hair without it making it all frizzy afterwards. I can actually leave my hair to dry naturally after using this brush and it goes into a lovely wave rather than a big frizzy mess.
So there you go, that’s my favourite hair products. I would love to know yours so leave me a comment below. That’s it from me this week, I will make sure to do a recipe for next week. I didn’t get a chance to do much cooking this week.
One last thing though, if you are reading this today (Thursday 20th June) then make sure to check out the Kipling Today’s Special Value offer as it’s a really good one for you Kipling Fans. It’s a two-piece Medium Rennur Cross-body Bag with pouch. Six different colours to choose from! It’s a fab bag for summer for all those nice day trips out and about, particularly if you are going on holiday.
Hope you are all well, I’ll be back with my fave make-up products next week!
Lots of love
