Autumn outfit

Five of the best

4

Hi,

I like to think of myself as a ‘glass half full’ kind of person (and it doesn’t always have to be full of wine, despite the jokes that naughty Richard Jackson always likes to make about me!). There’s so much negativity in the world and sometimes it does us good to count our blessings, even when times are tough. So today I thought I’d do a quick-fire list of things that have made me smile over the past week or so. I hope some of them make you smile too.

First, a beautiful sunset. I took this from my bedroom window in Gloucestershire. There’s no filter on it and no editing – that’s exactly what it looked like. Just stunning. How wonderful nature is!

Number two, sleeping on an airbed! For complicated reasons far too boring to go into here, hubby and I had to spend a night on a blow-up bed last weekend so we got to try the Aerobed we got from QVC for guests for the first time ourselves. Great fun, looks just like a proper bed when blown up and astonishingly comfortable!

Coming in at number three, a medal in the shape of a troll! I did a 10km run along the Thames last weekend as part of an event called “Can’t Stop the Running” and just look at the fabulous finisher’s medal. I’ve never had a medal with hair before – I love it!

At four, it’s the body pillow from Cozee Home. Quite simply the most comfortable, squishy, huggable pillow ever. I’m a big reader and it’s perfect for snuggling up with a book. Great gift, great self-gift!

And to finish off my top five, jumpers and boots! I’ve finally embraced autumn and put my summer gear to the back of the wardrobe and it’s making me very happy. I went out for dinner in my Ruth Langsford blazer and little red ankle boots from Bronx and it reminded me that autumn/winter fashion is definitely my favourite.

What’s made you smile recently?

Love Jackie x

IAutumn is my fav time of year. I am a jacket person and can t wait to start wearing them sometimes with a shawl if it’s really cold. I have a tree across from my lounge window and it’s turning a lovely golden colour. I really enjoy your shows especially the one with Ruth Langford is she coming back. Can you tell me if the top you were wearing on Kipling bags was from q.v.c it looked very nice. Good luck with the move xx

Hi, yes I love autumn too! Ruth will be back with a Christmas fashion show on the 15th of November so looking forward to that. I’m so sorry I can’t remember what top I was wearing on my last Kipling show, apologies!

Hello Jackie, I have a Happiness jar on the kitchen window sill & I write down anything that’s been beautiful or positive during the day on a small piece of paper, date it & put in the jar. In the time between Christmas & New Year I put them into chronological order & look back over the year. The things that have made me smile recently are our exquisite granddaughter learning to sit up without support & she’s not yet 6 months. Finding a sparkly thermal top to wear at football matches – to keep warm on the terraces, NOT while playing the game. The acer in our garden that’s having it’s best autumn ever with poppy red leaves that glow in the sunshine. My husband. I love the summer & this one has been a delight, however, I totally appreciate autumn when the leaves are falling, the skies are blue & the light has that opaque quality peculiar to this time of year. I also enjoy wearing a/w clothes & boots. It’s important to be a glass half full person & never be a drain. Jo x
