Have you heard? Celebrated influencer and homeware guru Erica Davies has just launched her very first collection with QVC! Available to shop right now, this fabulous range boasts bright wall hangings, fabulous rugs and even garden furniture.
We caught up with the social media star to hear all about the inspiration behind this impressive new collection, as well as finding out Erica’s favourite pieces.
QGossip: Hi Erica, we’re so excited for the launch of your first ever collection with QVC. Tell us, how did your love for interior design begin?
Erica Davies: I started decorating houses when I was eight years old. Virtually, obviously, and all in my head, but nonetheless, the love for interiors started young. From my mum’s home catalogues, I would spend HOURS debating which curtain fabric I would pick in my future home and even what toaster and kettle I’d pick. Slightly strange child, or a glimpse into the future décor obsession?! It is an absolute ‘pinch-me’ moment to be announcing this, my very own homeware collection with QVC!
QG: What was it like finally bringing your ideas to life?
ED: Working with the team has been a creative dream from the start (and they didn’t even seem to mind when I produced a twenty-page mood board presentation!). For me, adding colour and personality to a home is something I feel really passionate about. My collection is all about those little details that can create a real impact through colour pops, print and sophisticated fun.
QG: In another life you worked as a magazine Fashion Editor; how did your previous career inspire this new homeware direction?
ED: I once engineered an entire work trip to Morocco so I could buy amazing handira, or traditional sequinned wedding blankets. My much haggled-over throws are still some of my favourite home pieces so I am thrilled that they’ve inspired such gorgeous pieces in my collection, like these useful storage baskets!
QG: What can we expect from your first collection with us?
ED: It features the ideas that inspire my own home: typography, colour, print, textiles and vintage pieces. I receive so many messages and comments from my social media followers about the things I show so I took those requests as a starting point.
One of my favourite pieces is the LOVE wall hanging. It’s based on a vintage set of letters I have in my hall that I found in the window of an antiques shop and I get asked about them all the time. They make me smile every day and I really wanted to share the LOVE!
QG: There’s lots of botanical prints and themes, why is that?
ED: For me, plants are an integral part of a room’s overall design and I really wanted to include lots of different sizes and styles in my collection – the trend for all things botanical isn’t going anywhere.
I love filling every corner with plants. A mix of real and faux can create interest in a plain space, while faux plants like my fiddle fig and palm are perfect for darker, painted rooms that don’t receive a lot of natural light.
QG: We love the multi-functional pieces too; they’re so versatile!
ED: The idea of throwing open the door in the summer and allowing the garden to become part of your home really appeals to me. My reversible rug can be used inside or out and it would also be a practical addition to a children’s playroom or play corner.
I also designed an outdoor sofa chair in the tropical print that would be perfect for when you’re entertaining in the sunshine but you can also use it as a comfy base for a child’s room.
QG: We’re all about the bright colours; how have you incorporated them into your collection?
ED: I am constantly on the look-out for pieces that will work hard in my home. I want things that are practical but look beautiful too. I love the bright orange patio set for this very reason – it’s a simple, streamlined, comfortable set, but designed in a knock-out colour that was inspired by my own dining table.
I’m also a huge fan of rugs; they’re everywhere in my own home. The colours and texture of this rug make me so happy! Pink has become such a universally popular colour and it works beautifully with contrasting brights. I also love that it mixes so well with darker colours and ‘heavier’ fabrics such as leather and velvet.
QG: Thanks for chatting Erica… and congrats on your very first QVC collection!
