Fitness and fabulous offers

So did Storm Hector do much damage in your area? It seemed to largely hit Scotland and the north of England but even as far south as Gloucestershire, where I live, we had a fairly windy 24 hours with tree branches down in the garden and my lovely purple alliums flattened! When the wind had calmed down a little I decided to go out for a run along the canal – only to find that it was still rather breezier than I expected! Tough going. I made a little video (below) – it looks more like October than June, doesn’t it?

On the topic of fitness, one of my favourite magazines, Women’s Health, is currently running a campaign about body positivity, and about learning to love your body for what it can do, not what it can’t. If you’re a social media user you might have seen lots of women posting pictures like this one I put up, with positive messages about body image and fitness. I particularly liked this quote – I strive for progress, not perfection! After all, perfection is unattainable, while progress definitely is not, whether you’re talking about fitness, work or life in general.

Inspiring message

I love feeling fit and healthy, but I really don’t do gyms – I love running, and when I’m not out doing that I’m on my AeroPilates machine or else doing exercise DVDs at home. Now QVC has a brilliant DVD set from the gorgeous Myleene Klass, which I begged our buyers for a sample of to try at home. You get three workout DVDs, a nutrition guide, a wall chart so you can monitor your progress over a suggested 12-week programme, and a brilliant 3.5kg weight called a sandbell ( a bit like a kettle bell, but in sandbag form) for doing strength work. Here’s a little peek at it – it’s all nicely boxed too!

I’ve only just got my hands on it so I’ve only done the MyStrength workout so far (and loved it) but all the workouts are divided into short sections so you can do as much or as little as you have time for – for example the strength workout has a short warm up and cool down and three 8-minute workout segments. Definitely one to try if you want to increase your fitness levels in the comfort of home.

Now, if you ARE working out at home in this warm weather you may well need a fan! I certainly do as the only DVD player in the house is in the conservatory which gets really hot. If your home is fan-less you may well want to take a look at the Today’s Special Value offer from Dyson on Monday 25th June. It’s the Pure Cool Link Quiet Purifier fan – cooling and purifying the air at the same time – and will be available in desk top or freestanding tower versions (that’s the one I borrowed to try – here it is in my conservatory).

As you’d expect from Dyson it’s packed with superb technology – it automatically monitors the air, reacts to what it finds and purifies. Then the “Link” bit reports its findings straight to the Dyson Link app which you can download to your tablet or smartphone, and you can then control your atmosphere via your phone!

It’s amazing if you or someone in your family has allergies or hay fever as it removes 99.95% of allergens and pollutants so the air in your home is so much cleaner – also great for cooking odours, or if you’re decorating and want to tackle those paint fumes. There’s also a quieter, night-time mode which won’t disturb your sleep. You’ll see this on-air at a fantastic saving on Monday, so if a fan has been on your shopping list you won’t want to miss it.

See you soon!
