Phew, what a scorcher it’s been! It really has been HOT, hasn’t it? I must admit I’m more of a winter than a summer person, but I do enjoy the heat in brief spurts, particularly as it means more time outside which I love. Living in Gloucestershire is wonderful because there are so many festivals, from music to science to literature to food, and I always try to go to the annual Cheltenham Food and Drink Festival if I can.
This year we met up with a big group of friends there, plus my niece Ellen and her boyfriend Chris, which was lovely. There’s nothing nicer than sharing a glass or two of bubbly and some delicious food in the sunshine.
That’s my hubby looking handsome against the blue sky, and myself, Ellen and Chris looking smiley! I’m wearing my Ruby Rocks aviator sunglasses which I absolutely love this year, they’ve become my favourite pair, such a cool range!
I’ve also been spending lots of time in the garden – there’s been a lot of watering recently, but seeing everything bursting into bloom is so rewarding. I’ve been using Richard Jackson’s Flower Power plant food regularly too and it makes such a difference.
We’ve been eating in the garden a lot recently – we have a proper wood-fired pizza oven out there that hubby treated himself to a couple of summers ago and it’s fabulous to have hot pizza straight from the oven in your own back garden (clearly, he makes it, not me. Although I’m going to give it a go, one of these days – surely even I can’t mess up a pizza?!).
Remember I told you a while ago that I’d sponsored a guide dog, Hattie? It’s so nice as they send you regular updates on how ‘your’ dog is doing and also photos. Here is the latest – she has grown up so much and is doing so well. I have the photos pinned to the corkboard in front of my desk at home. One day I hope to have my own dog but until then Hattie will do nicely!
I’m taking a week off this week so I will see you again in July. Enjoy the weather and stay cool!
Love Jackie x
