February’s Beauty Pick of the Month

For February’s Beauty Pick of the Month we have the launch of a new Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic and Retinol Fortifying Neck Emulsion. This is a very exciting launch as it encompasses up-to-date, modern ingredients, with current research showing neck ageing happening from as young as in our twenties.

We have increasingly all been aware of the concerns of crepey skin texture, lines and wrinkles, the thin and sagging skin and dark spots or hyperpigmentation. The sagging can be caused by an accumulation of submental fat, redundancy of the skin or excess skin combined with laxity which is loss of collagen and elastin. These concerns are now exacerbated with what studies have shown to be neck rings which can be present in your twenties and thirties without any of the other ageing concerns yet appearing. This is believed to be from repeated downward head tilt, often towards computers and smart phones and is known as dermal/epidermal junction weakness from the constant movement.

The medical profession have done studies in facial skin thickness and while we have always known the upper eyelid has the thinnest skin, it also shows that the neck has the second-thinnest skin, which is even finer than the lower eyelid and the lip. The forehead and the cheek show the thickest areas of skin.

Dr Dennis Gross is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatological surgeon with 20 years of clinical experience. With all of this knowledge, he has developed a multi-targeted approach of an ingredient stack encompassing ferulic acid, retinol, lactic acid, silk amino acids, hyaluronic acid and his unique ECG complex trademark. This gives an all-encompassing, multi-targeted approach to all the ageing that can be found on the neck area. This is in a modern delivery system of a lightweight, non-greasy texture contained in an airless pump with dark amber packaging to protect the product from exposure to air and light to prevent breakdown of this high potency formula and its actives.POM_1

Ok, so that’s the science. The reality that I am excited about – as your qualified expert – is some new and up-to-date technology with proven results on modern day neck problems of all ages. If you own nothing else, use this on its own morning and night. If you have a very dry neck or you are using an existing product, put a moisturiser or your existing product on top and think of this as more like a serum.  Bear in mind that it does have peeling, exfoliating action so if you are going on an early sunny holiday or using it during the nicer weather of Easter or our summer, then either keep your neck area covered or apply SPF on top, once this has sunk in.

This launch perfectly coincides with the trend that we are seeing for peels and from the ingredient list, you should be able to understand that it already has a built-in peel as well as a new way of combining the dermatologist’s favourite, anti-ageing ingredient of retinol which has always been recognised and proven as an anti-ager – but what is special about this formula is that it manages combine so many soothing properties included in his ECG Cellular complex to help decrease the risk of inflammation, fibre breakdown, UV damage and increased pigmentation concerns.

Remember, for best results; take it just over the jaw line and around the neck until your fingers touch at the back as well as down the obvious area of down the front of the neck and the décolletage.

Hello Alison. Another great blog. science & skin are very interesting. I love your Beauty nights in & look forward to a Wed night. Can i please ask what should I use for discoloured elbows? I exfoliate every 3 days & I have started using my excess Liquid Gold that I usually use on my hands now on my elbows but the horrible dirty colour is still there. With the sun coming out I would like to get my arms out. Thanks Ali.
