Something I’m sure you won’t want to miss is coming up on Monday – we are showcasing the first of our new winter fashion designs over our two-day fashion event on Sunday and Monday, and the Today’s Special Value offer for Monday is from exciting and celebrated designer MarlaWynne.
I was lucky enough to be with Marla for her first ever show on QVC around four years ago. I was bowled over by the unique styles she brought us, but also her refreshing attitude. She really understands how we want to hide and disguise our least favourite parts of our figures, or ‘icky bits’ as she calls them, and she uses quality fabrics, careful cutting and attention to detail to achieve exactly that. Her following has has got bigger and bigger and so many people now look forward to each of Marla’s visits. Marla will be with us though the day on Monday with hour long shows at midnight to launch the TSV, and also 9am, midday and 3pm. She is the only label to be featured for four hours over the two day fashion extravaganza, and will be bringing many covetable new designs as well as the star of the day.
The TSV has been inspired by a dress that is already a confirmed favourite. It’s the balloon dress style which has already received 69 five star reviews (out of a total of 84) on our website, but in a new gorgeous crepe fabric. We first saw this flattering cut in a sleeveless viscose design and also in jersey. The skirt section is styled with vertical curved panels on either side and a wide horizontal band at the (slightly asymmetrical) curved hemline, which creates a beautiful balloon effect. This disguises any weight around the hips and bottom and gives the appearance of a slimmer waistline. The shape gives the dress a contemporary feel with a slight ‘edge’, so it is grown up and sophisticated and not at all frumpy or ‘girly’. It’s one of those wonderful dresses that really does seem to suit all ages, body shapes, and occasions.
We loved it so much that last year Marla brought us the same style but in velvet and with full length sleeves. That sold out almost instantly but I was delighted to discover that we have just ordered more stock in the black and I was able to wear it for Morning Style earlier this week.
It’s such a flattering dress I’m sure it would look good if it were made of old burlap sacks! You’ll be pleased to know, though, that on Monday we are bringing it to you in a luxurious crepe fabric in four classic colours – black, midnight blue, burgundy and mushroom. It has long sleeves and the same scoop neckline with stitching details. I have just tried it on and the magic is still there!!
There is a slight texture in the fabric and enough weight for it to move beautifully, and as it’s a MarlaWynne design, it’s also machine washable. It looks a simple dress because there is no fussiness about it, but in reality it must be incredibly difficult to achieve such a flattering design that works for so many women. That’s where Marla is so clever as a designer – she does the work so that we can look effortlessly gorgeous.
I have posted excerpts from some of the reviews for the dress in its earlier forms below to give you an idea of how versatile and confidence-giving this unique, elegant and stylish design is – I hope you can have a look on Monday. I wouldn’t leave it too late in the day… Marla’s designs have a history of selling out rather quickly. Don’t miss it!
