Exams are over, at last!

Just for fun competitionPhew! They're over! The stress levels in our house have just dropped through the floor following the completion of the last GCSE in our house! I can now talk to my kids and wife in a normal way and get a civil reply as well!

No I'm kidding – my two have taken their exams in a relatively measured way – I think my poor wife suffered more than they did. I have to say when my two were younger and all these fantastic exam results were being paraded by 'School's on the News' I was one of the many who criticised the dumbing down of exams compared to 'my day'.

As I later watched the amount of homework Ali and Jack got and the extent of the syllabus', I quickly realised that they were being asked to work much harder and diligently than I did back in the late 70's.

I know there is an easier access to information and study aids online these days, but in my experience, modern day school kids on average do seem to work much harder than those of my day and I'm comparing that to the Grammar School I somehow managed to scrape entry into.

So I say, well done to all the students, teachers and parents. For the time being your work is done and good luck for the August results.

I'm sure I speak for many households up and down the land who are celebrating today and now looking forward to a fantastic stress free Summer with a smile and a bottle of Ultrasun!

Bring on the ALevels!? aaaahhhgh!

I'm just off out now for a celebratory lunch – No more pies this week though! Even my Mum texted me to say she couldn't believe how many Simple Simon's Perfect Pies I ate live on air last Wednesday – I've contacted the Guinness Book of Records and they're going to look into it!

I've got a lovely 47" Philips Smart Full HD 3D TV that I'm launching on Saturday Night into Sunday it's a stunning looking machine and full of all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a trusted brand such as Philips and at a great price!

I'll be blogging early next week about the forthcoming Jewellery Day Event so for now I'll sign off but not before introducing this week's "Just for Fun" photo comp (see the photo at the top of the blog)

I tweeted this photo in response to Chloe's boast of how well her Lily's were doing!
