One more day to go until School breaks up for the summer and we are plunged into chaos!!! Fun chaos of course, beach days, parks, day trips and endless asks for ice cream. We are so not prepared either, we have some trips away booked but other than that I’m not sure what we are doing, where we are going and who’s got the kids when we are both working, we’ve only just managed the juggle of all the end of term extras.
It will work out in the end though it always does. We had Tilda’s leaving ceremony this week and boy was it a tear-jerker. There’s nothing like watching an entire year of seven year-olds singing ‘A Million Dreams’ off the back of a late shift and little sleep to have you sobbing like a baby. It’s so emotional seeing all those little faces with the world at their feet singing their little hearts out.
Other than that, last weekend we headed to a farm in Dorset to our friend’s company festival. It’s one of our favourite things as it’s probably about the safest family festival we could probably go to as it’s just friends and family of the people who work there. It’s all contained in one camp site and we get to enjoy a whole host of tribute bands plus lots of activities for the kids.
We are not seasoned campers however, so this year we hired a Bell tent to make things a lot easier. We literally turned up and dumped our bags and bedding into a ready set up tent complete with bunting and fairy lights. Just perfect. Tilda and Ivy were beside themselves! They pretty much spent the entire weekend bare foot and feral.
We existed on wood-fired pizzas from the food stalls and bacon sandwiches from our camp stove along with cider for us and a million juices for the kids. We were able to pay £6 for each of them to have a wrist band for endless goes on the bouncy castles and there was also free arts and crafts which they spent a good part of the weekend in. Face paints were a must and so was the glitter. Some of the kids were going around with the glitter charging £1 to everyone to have it done and raised loads of money for the chosen charity, by the end of the weekend I think everyone had been glittered in some way or another.
The weather was incredible which helped make it the most wonderful weekend, although I will admit I was so glad to get back to my bed. My back is not a fan of blow up beds that’s for sure. The girls were filthy when we finally got them to a bath and turned the water grey! That’s exactly what I want their childhood summers to be though, carefree, grubby and to play so hard that they collapse into bed every night.
What I’ve been wearing at QVC – Joules shirt
Meanwhile back to being clean and camera-ready, I have been seeking out some new pieces to share with you from my wardrobe. I ordered a few fantastic new items that I hope you will like. Firstly this really cute Joules Lucie Embroidered shirt, classic and creamy white but with the cheeky addition of my favourite dog ever, little Dachshunds. I fell in love with one a while back and one day I would love to have one in the family. Watch this space!
This shirt works so well on its own but also layered with something over the top so that the colour becomes a major feature to the outfit. I am wearing the size 12 as I would expect. It’s also 100% cotton so lovely and breathable, it’s very soft too.
Next up it’s all about the pink!! I took an opportunity to test out our new social media room last night to get some fun photos in my outfit. The pink lighting helped to add to the pinktastic look. I just ordered this Helene Berman Solid blazer and was so excited to give it its first outing on air for the Perfect Formula Launch. It also comes in red if pink isn’t your colour. It is a good longer length than some of the other blazers which is a look I really like and I’m a big fan of the casual styling of it by rolling up the sleeves Miami Vice style! I wore it with my distressed skinny jeans by Nouveaux (size 12) a pink vest top and my Vionic Josie Court Shoes.
Also note the cheeky little addition of the Butler & Wilson French Bulldog brooch. Clearly I’m having a dog phase! Butler & Wilson are celebrating 50 years this year so look out for lots of fabulous new pieces from them. Julia Roberts will be hosting a special Anniversary show with Simon Wilson on the 1st August at 6pm so set the reminders. Hopefully the bulldog will be making an appearance too!
What’s Coming Up at QVC – JM by Julien Macdonald Today’s Special Value
Before I go to brace myself for the end of term I want to let you know we have a beautiful and elegant Today’s Special Value coming to you this Friday from JM by Julien Macdonald. It’s a beautiful Large Lotus Flower Crystal Candle Holder – a striking and weighty piece to add to any coffee table or sideboard.
Add a candle if you want to bring the romance and flicker of candlelight to any room or just have it as is sparkling away. We have it in clear and smoked (I’m showing you the smoked here photographed in both my home and my parents’ home) and it comes in a lovely presentation box which makes it incredibly giftable.
That’s it for another week, one of my oldest best friends is visiting from Dubai this weekend and staying in the New Forest so we will be catching up together with our kids so I shall report back next week. Until then, I hope you all have a wonderful week.
Lots of Love Katy xx
