Oh my Gawd, does anyone else feel like July was the month that wouldn’t end?? Most months fly by in a blur these days but for some reason this one felt like it was on slow motion! I don’t know what it was? Maybe I just had so many things to do, the list only got longer not shorter, and the month culminated with Scott being away in America for work in the final week, then Josh getting tonsillitis, so no sleep for me, or him for three nights, poor sausage. Organising his 4th birthday party, working and juggling childcare. If you follow me on social media, and please do now if you don’t, you will have seen that I was a woman on the edge! LOL!
But, as is always the way, you cope, you mange, you somehow pull it out the bag, and then just like that, the moment has passed and you can breathe again!
So Josh turned four – and of course he had his party on the one day that it poured down! So I had to do a quick ring ‘round the garden centres to find a big gazebo and get that popped up! Anything to avoid 15-20 four year olds in my house! Ha! It actually was a huge success, and they loved the ‘party tent’! It was so windy I wasn’t sure whether it was going to stay in our garden or end up in the neighbours! But it held. Phew!
‘Spiderman’ came to host the party, telling me in the week he would be there half an hour before the party, which was at 10.30 in the morning, to change into his superhero costume, blow up some balloons and set up. 10am arrived, no Spidey. 10.10, no-one, his phone going straight to voicemail. 10.15, the same. At this point I started to freak out, telling Scott to start wrapping something to make a pass the parcel, get online and find party games, download some kid music… I was ready to burst into tears.
All my planning, all the money spent on food and cakes and party bags, and it was going to be the worst party ever! Argh!! Then at 10.25 I get hold of him, he’s had a nightmare journey on buses and trains, he’s at a station nearby… Lewis Hamilton had nothing on my driving skills as I raced to get him!
Once Spiderman was in control, it was smooth sailing and everyone had a great time! Hooray! Total top mum points!
August is looking to be more chilled. The kids are obviously on school hols and so I have to keep them entertained now. But they are off to Granny and Grandpas for a week soon and then we are all going camping in France, so this month will definitely fly by.
If, like me you’re feeling frazzled, then here are my top picks to get your Zen back and feel re-balanced and ready to tackle the world…
Firstly, candles. Placing these beautiful candles around your home will defiantly change your mood. These small Yankee Candles are perfect to place around your bath so you can soak and un-wind properly. These bath oils from Elemis are perfect to add to your soak, helping your troubles to melt away and moisturise your skin at the same time.
Once you’re out of the tub, or maybe in it, why not treat yourself to a glass of wine. This set of six bottles of white from Laithwaite’s includes Prosecco, or if you’re more of a red kind of gal or guy then try this collection. Perhaps now you fancy an indulgent snack, what about some award-winning cheese and crackers! Delish! Perhaps with some handmade chutney? My mouth is actually watering!
You deserve this time! Create your perfect evening, give yourself the night off and enjoy!
