Elemystical Magical Spa Treat and Face Analysis

Well one of the biggest shopping weekends in QVC’s year is this Saturday and Sunday. Preparing to launch the new sweet orchid fragrance, I went to the London spa for a complete body treatment. As many of you will know already, whether via social media or our mail shots or emails, this year’s Elemis Today’s Special Value on Sunday is just £41.96, on four Easy Payments (yes really!) and I can also announce it’s on Buy More Save More – meaning another £4 off on second and subsequent ones in same order! The six products – three face and three body – have a choice of body fragrance – either the loved frangipani or the new one – sweet orchid, which some have described as a lighter fragrance, less heady than frangipani and sweeter, a bit lily of the valley – so perfect for me! I’m definitely Team Sweet Orchid – what will you be? Find out more on my blog here.

Join us not only discussing it all on my Friday webchat on Qpage, but also on QVC Beauty with Julia and Keeley in an unprecedented preview at 8pm Saturday night, then Catherine has the next preview show at ten before Alison launches at midnight. Assuming some stocks are left I’ll be on at 10pm Sunday night (15th) – can’t wait!

It was such a lovely body scrub, massage and wrap, I can thoroughly recommend it. They reported back after to Keeley that I was snoring a bit – but hopefully I wasn’t dribbling as well although the fragrances are so good that was a possibility!

I came away completely moisturised and relaxed (a bit zonked if truth be known! Lol) and clutching my face analysis sheet. This print-out shows different areas of concern – you may have had it done before – and happily most areas are really good. The topic of age came up and the therapist guessed my skin results would normally belong to someone aged 35-40 ! Well seeing as I’m 53 that pleased me no end! It’s the lifting range I’ve been prescribed but as a lover of Pro Collagen Marine Cream anyway, especially for ‘down days and holidays’ I was ok for products having been given one of the lovely Today’s Special Value offers!

Bygone Era

Debbie in LSE library

Well I ended up going back in time this week – in more ways than one. I’m researching a new book based on a true story and needed to look at ‘Birth Control News’ by Marie Stopes about an event that happened in 1927. She was the pioneer of ‘conception control’ in the 1920s and her original newsletters are kept under lock and key in the Women’s library. It’s at the top of the huge building – I hadn’t been back to my old university library since 1983! This isn’t the old one, it’s very new – and very impressive – look.

Anyway with my newly produced identity card I went along to the fourth floor with all its posters and relics and collected my first ‘fetch’ – bound volumes from 1921 onwards. OMG I’m such a geek! It was truly scintillating to be holding the original sheets of paper and afterwards I got one of them to take a pic of me in front of a typical poster of around about that era – timely considering Suffragette is still in cinemas!

The most fascinating newsletters will make an amazing blog one day – when my book is finished. Four nurses, two horse-drawn caravans and one scandalous ideal – changing women’s sex lives forever in 1920s Britain. Will keep you informed! This meanwhile is the sort of thing I was looking at. Fab!

LSE Newsletter

Back To You quote

Today I was alone in the woods and then… this week’s email newsletter on my home page had an unprecedented reaction from many people who had a connection to my experience. Go here to read it (and sign up for the newsletters on the pop up if you’d like to be emailed with my news including a summary of all my blogs and some exclusive pics or videos!) It was interesting that they fell in two camps – I wonder which camp you will be in after you read what happened?

BACK TO YOU UPDATE – My on air well-being show returns to QVC on air in January – whoop! And this week’s blog mentions the secret to some people’s weight loss on my Till the Fat Lady Slims group, plus Q&As with Elemis and more. Go here.

MY BOOK NEWS Finally here’s some news about my book which will be available via some bookshops – my publisher Choc Lit told me that my first paperback with them, Take a Chance on Me, – a steamy romance! – was picked out for a special mention in the Compass bookseller’s newsletter this week – I was very proud. Squeee! This is the cover to look out for –

Take A Chance On Me

And this is what Compass said: “This is a romance that sizzles! The first title for this imprint is Take a Chance on Me by Debbie Flint who is a super-popular presenter on QVC – so will be well known to the 12 million women in the UK who regularly tune in! As you know, Choc-Lit always road-test their book with the online reading community before they are published, and Take a Chance on Me has had particularly good reviews, with bloggers writing ‘There are some particularly steamy scenes in Take A Chance on Me but they are exceptionally well-written’ and ‘This is fast paced, suspenseful … new and fresh with a magnificent ending. A marvellous heartfelt novel’ and ‘Loved this book! Quick witted and full of funny banter … five stars, an awesome read.’

Book of the week – ‘Us,’ David Nicholls

Us by David Nicolls

Now to a true best-selling author and the follow up to the international smash hit and book club favourite, ‘One Day’. This one is a bit more dry, took me longer to get into and definitely had a couple of moments where I thought ‘really? is this it?’ but the audiobook narration was partly to blame so I persevered. Soon David Nicholls’ trademark irony and wit began to pepper itself over this sorry tale of a marriage going wrong and it began to amuse me a bit more! Phew! I’m wading my way through it and whilst it’s been nominated for a Man Booker prize, it’s nowhere near one of my faves of his. Give it a go though if you want! More about it on my Read it Write it Sell it blog where you’ll also find out where to get my own fiction.

DOGGY UPDATE – MDD mega draw is on!

Mega Draw

Also on my website – I confirmed that the next mega draw will run from 1st-14th December – a superb online raffle to raise money for fantastic charity, Medical Detection Dogs, for their prostate cancer detection study. All prizes will be worth £50 or more and some worth over £100! Including donations from Alpha H, Philip Kingsley, Elemis consultation, a DKNY watch and more. Go here to my web page to find out more. By the way if you’re a Charlie Bears fan, little Bones the limited edition Mini Mohair pug-like dog, gives £10 per bear to the charity, courtesy of lovely Will and Charlie! Maybe lovely Bones will come to QVC before he sells out – I will keep you informed!

Your Poor Eyes Only

Brother Glenn had his eyes lasered this week. Reminded me that at about the same age, 12 years ago, I did exactly the same thing and it’s on of the best things I’ve ever done. He reminded me that the weirdest thing is the machine that kind of sucks your eyeball into place to make it not budge during the op to shave a slither of lens away to adjust short sightedness. But even by the same evening, for me and for him as in this pic, he began to see things further away. It’s miraculous!

Glen and Debbie

Rich Pickings

Not only that but I also took ‘uber’ taxis for the first time this week too – I went out with my bestest buddy LJ Rich, on her way back from filming for BBC Click, got chatting and missed my last train home! Here’s me and LJ in a fab restaurant just off the Aldwych – had a super catch up!

LJ and Debbie

Then ended up in Guildford instead of Dorking and managed to catch a passing Uber taxi driver on his way back to London from a drop off and paid virtually half what I would have done – and this is the view on the app – talk about feel secure!

Bradley Cooper’s latest outing on the big screen is getting rave reviews – it’s top of my list to go see at the cinema. My daughter Lauren said it was awesome and set in a chef’s world it’s very topical too. Bet he’s brilliant – he always is, and nice to see Sienna Miller back too. Hi Deb, sadly The Topiary Cat isn’t real, the stories got mixed up. Mr Brooker is real and does do topiary though. On facebook there’s a page actually called The Topiary Cat where you can see lots of those fab pics. x

Hi Debbie, Isn’t it funny how you see things at the right time. I am going for my first appointment for laser on Saturday, very nervous, not good with things for my eyes. Very unsure about it and then I read your blog and it has given me the confidence to go ahead with it. Thank you. As Wayne Dyer would say, rest his soul, the right time, space and sequence.
