I have just this second waved off Brian and his boys as they head to Wales for their annual camping trip, this time with one extra in tow, Beely has joined them! Oh the joys of being free as a bird to do as we can! Myles and I are working, and obviously we have mum and the animals at home too (although it sounds wrong putting them in the same sentence, but you know what I mean!) so we are staying here and it means we have a whole new dynamic in the house… a rather peaceful one!
It will be nice for a change to have some peace, mind you, as summer has been a wonderful mix of all sorts and some great trips. First, I took Myles and Beely off to the Isle of Wight, as you know from my last blog, then Brian and I went to Edinburgh Festival for a few days, which was just superb! We booked it months ago, and weren’t sure if we would be able to do it with Mum at home, but she’s been coming along so well that we were ok to go and we had a wonderful time, just the two of us! As it turned out, our hotel was right opposite the world’s largest book festival, which was on at the same time so we REALLY lucked out!
We walked our feet off, and there is/was so much to tell and see, I shared a lot of it on my Instagram stories, which you can see under the “random” highlight – it was like walking through either a party or a movie set at all times! This pic above is the inspiration for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter books, and just around the corner was The Elephant House where JK Rowling sat and wrote – it was weirdly quite magical being there!
We have also had a fair few day trips, off to the cinema, taking walks around the Cotswolds, which is on our doorstep, and in this pic we had just arrived outside Portsmouth for the day to celebrate my Aunt’s 70th birthday, which was delightful. I caught up with my cousin who I haven’t seen since she was younger than Beely is – she is now a mummy herself, and also vicar in Oxfordshire (with the responsibility of SEVEN churches!!) Not a million miles away from us so definitely will be catching up with more coffee soon… when she has time… I thought I was busy lol!
Talking of busy, now I have a relatively empty house for the next week, I’m going to arm myself with tools and get cleaning, sorting and gardening! I’m super excited about it – first stop is the garden, which currently needs some TLC as thanks to Flower Power, everything is exploding, so we need a bit of order methinks! Not only that, Brian bought me this AMAZING hammock for our wedding anniversary (5 years = wood) so once I am done with my list, this is where you will find me!
Finally, on the finding tools that help us get the job done quickly front, we’ve got a great cordless pressure washer Today’s Special Value from Yard Force that would be perfect to clean the patio, the garage doors and the driveway (and of course, will go into the pot for your voucher ahead of the closing date on 8th September!) But first for me, pot tidying, weeding and vacuuming the lawn – ah yes, the joys of artificial grass, it’s always green and never needs mowing, however it also gathers dirt so needs a good vacuum every few weeks!
Much love as always
