Dyson will blow you away!

Dyson are back and will be bringing the amazing AM05 Hot & Cool Fan to QVC for a very special TSV on Monday 17th November. We caught up with Joe Hodgetts, our Dyson guest and one of the Engineers who worked on this ground-breaking new fan technology.

Joe Hodgetts

QVC: Tell us about the design of the Dyson AM05 Hot & Cool Fan heater.
Joe: The AM05 Hot and Cool Fan Heater is a product we are immensely proud of at Dyson. We use advanced PTC heating elements coupled with our patented air multiplier technology to deliver smooth, powerful, heated air to the room. This means you get proper mixing of the air in the room and a reduced heat-up time. The result being you feel warmer, faster.

Q: Can it be used during both hot and cold months?
J: Yes. We know that conventional fan heaters have a problem as they are a seasonal product; you purchase one, use it over the winter and then it lives in a cupboard for 6 months over the spring and summer. Not with AM05. We have optimised the design of AM05 to deliver highly efficient cooling airflow as well as the heat required to warm you in winter.

Q: What really sets this product apart from other fans or fan heaters?
J: Wow, well it might be tough to include all the reasons here so you will have to watch the show! At Dyson we pride ourselves on innovative design and technology that solves everyday problems. Conventional fan heaters use bladed fans to move air, whereas AM05 is a bladeless fan which means no spinning blades – so the design is safe and powerfully efficient. The AM05 is also smart, as it constantly senses the air temperature and makes adjustments to heat the room effectively. The remote control makes it a breeze to use and there is a cut-out switch just in case it gets knocked over.

Q: How have you found appearing live on QVC?
J: It was certainly nerve-wracking to begin with! There I was representing the products that I have designed and believed in, so I was scared of messing up! But the team at QVC are there to help and I was just myself and everything went really well. Now I really look forward to the shows, and I can’t wait until the 17th!

Q: What makes Dyson different to other home appliance makers?
J: So much! We have a culture of daring to be different through innovative design and rigorous engineering and the results are safe, reliable, visually stunning products that outperform the competition. We are brave, industrious and passionate. That is what sets us apart.

Q: Which new Dyson designs are you currently working on?
J: I wish I could say! There is a very real threat of plagiarism in my industry so we are very careful at protecting our designs – whether it’s fingerprint scanners on the way into work or our team of patent lawyers – we endeavour to keep our designs secret. So I’m afraid you will just have to wait and see.

Q: What are you hoping to find under the tree this Christmas?
J: Well my lovely girlfriend and I have just bought our first house so I have loads of DIY to do! So I’m hoping for a nice new orbital sander. It’s a good job I’ve got some very good vacuum cleaners at home to help with the dust!

With its sleek design and a range of fabulous features, don’t miss Joe with the Dyson AM05 TSV – item 803387 – on 17th November!

I bought one of these from QVC as it had easy pay, otherwise would not have. We have a house in Spain and thought it would be very useful in both very cold winters ( most house do not have central heating and the houses are built of breeze bock and cement, which is very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer.) I thought this would be a great assest for this house. I used it in our home in the uK and found it to be very poor for heating a medium sized room and useless at cooling. I put in a thermometer in the room and it got warmer on in the cooling setting.. Sorry Dyson I know you are pioneers but please why do we have to pay this truely silly price for something that clearly is not fit for purpose.. If you think it works what are we doing wrong..

I have to disagree with susan. we bought one of these to heat our medium sized lounge when we didn`t want the main central heating on and found it soon made us toasty while watching qvc of an evening,I must admit we haven`t had need to try it for cooling yet,but are pleased with the results as a heater
