Dressing room wars!

My messed up dressing roomHi everyone!

Hasn't it been fabulous to see the sun over the past week or so? I think it's been making us all feel a bit more light-hearted, which has spilled over into the QVC presenters' dressing rooms, particularly when it comes to my lovely colleague Chloe Everton and me!

If you follow us on Twitter, you'll know we've been having a bit of a fun dressing room war recently – if not, let me fill you in…

Chloe loves Man City!It all started when my dressing room mate Clare Sutton went on holiday a few weeks ago. I am, I admit, quite obsessively tidy, so with just me in the room I was enjoying its immaculate state.

Immaculate, that is, until the naughty Miss Everton thought it would be hilarious to mess up the room while I was on air, as you can see in the picture above (click on the pics to enlarge). And not just once, but three times. Grrrrr!

Of course, revenge had to be taken. Chloe is a massive Manchester United fan, and hence not very fond of Manchester City and certain other teams…

My cupboard after Chloe's attack! So I found a load of anti-Man United stuff on the internet and "decorated" her dressing room while she was away for the weekend, including "amending" her photo on the wall (see picture above left!). Childish, but funny!

After that, things started hotting up. I came in a week or so later, opened my wardrobe and found it totally STUFFED with the paper padding you find inside new handbags.

It took four bin bags to empty it all out, the little minx! I think she'd had a bag show earlier in the day and borrowed the paper out of every single bag. Again, grrrrrr!

The ironing board and everything! And then, while I was still plotting my latest revenge, Miss Everton struck again. I came off air to find EVERYTHING from the presenter lounge crammed into my dressing room – ironing board, chairs, bin, lamp, the lot – pictured below left!

So, now it's my turn. As I said, all very childish but it keeps us amused. I'll keep you posted on what happens next…!

Enjoying a Gatineau facialI have been doing some work this week too though, honestly. On Sunday 23rd we will have the most FANTASTIC Gatineau Today's Special Value offer, so I headed off to the Gatineau Training School in beautiful Windsor to try out the products, and was treated to a fabulous facial while I was there.

Yes, I look a bit like a mummy in some of these shots, but the results were amazing – my skin was glowing. Don't miss the Gatineau shows on Sunday if your skin could do with a springtime boost, you're in for a real treat.

Actually, that wasn't really like work at all, was it? I feel so lucky that my job now includes days like that – I certainly never had such treats in my 20 years in news!

I was chatting with some friends this week about technology and how it's changed our jobs over the years, and was reminded of my early days as a newspaper reporter when mobile phones were in their infancy and a mere reporter certainly didn't have one.

I remember covering court cases and then racing the other journalists to the nearest pay phone to call in my copy, pockets jangling with change to feed the phone with. How times have changed. We didn't have Internet in the newsroom either in my early days as a journalist, and found stories and information by actually phoning people and talking to them – again, how times change!

Cook's essentials Electric Soup & Smoothie Maker - 802398In other news, many of you will know (particularly after a disastrous kitchen show I presented over Christmas) that I really don't cook. I am, quite possibly, the worst cook in the world. But I'm trying to improve, so last week I bought the cook essentials Soup and Smoothie Maker. I'm going to try it out later this week, so I'll let you know how I get on in my next blog – brace yourselves….

As always, I love to hear from you about anything I blog about (or anything at all really!) so please do get in touch either by leaving a comment below or by contacting me on Twitter (@jackiekabler). Have a lovely week!

Love Jackie x

    Hi Jackie,
I have noticed the pictures you have been putting up with regard to your dressing room. It seems like a lot of fun is going on between you and Chloe, in the photograph with the ironing board and chairs etc it looks like it is from one of those programmes that are on called hoarders. It is going to come down to who gets the last laugh. The facial with Gatineau must have been gorgeous, I love their products, you must have felt so refreshed, making me jealous. Did you say you were auditioning for the next series of Master Chef. Yes the sun has gone on holiday again, it has been so nice lately, we had a lot of thick fog through last week but when the sun came out it was lovely. Really enjoyed the weekend, went out with a few friends on Sunday and did some training with our young Labradors on a lovely estate, it was really warm, but too good to last. It is raining here at the moment. You mention technology and how it has changed, yes it has taken over our lives in a way, no one ever seems to talk anymore, it is all text or emails, the trouble is everyone is so busy they do not have time to phone or even write anymore. When the children come out of school they are all using their phones, texting or phoning. Anyway Jackie good luck with the dressing room war, and good luck with the auditioning for Master Chef.

    Hi Jean,
Hahaha, I don’t think me and Masterchef are a good match, hilarious thought! I did manage to make some quite nice soup in my new soup maker though, but I think that was more down to the soup maker and not the chef! Sounds like you have a lovely time with your dogs, hope the sun comes back out for you soon. Have a great week.

Suggest you get Chloe a Leeds United scarf, Spurs mug etc ready for Christmas!!!
How are you getting on with the Tabata? It’ll be the death of me, I tell you – gruelling, if only 4 mins worth.
You’ll love the soup maker. I bought it a year ago and use it virtually every week. Best of all, when you have left-over veggies in your ‘fridge, you just shove them in the soup maker, add a stock cube, some water, tin of tomatoes (you get them from supermarkets – ha ha) and Bob’s your uncle. Good luck.
PS Loved your ‘scarf routine’ on the Kipling show – TV at its best (honest).

    Hi Susanne,
Good suggestion for Chloe, thanks! I did Tabata again yesterday and today my BUM is killing me, how does that work eh!? Yes, really like that soup maker and a good idea to use leftovers. I shall persevere and try to start enjoying cooking!

    Hi Jackie,
You used to be a familiar face on Midlands News and I have loved seeing you blossom since joining QVC. It seems like you are really enjoying yourself and you have fast become a favourite presenter of mine. Stay happy. Sarah x

    Hi Sarah,
Yes it’s all very different from news where you can’t really be yourself – it took time I think for me to get used to that after working in news for 20 years! I really love the job too, so much fun. Thanks so much for getting in touch!
    Love Jackie x
