Hi all! Hope you’re keeping cozy as the nights draw in and a chill is in the air. I love this time of year with all the Christmas decorations going up. Those twinkling little lights spark a wee bit of magic in my heart and I sincerely hope I never grow out of it!
Speaking of twinkling and sparkling… the upcoming party season calls for a shiny new manicure and we have just the Today’s Special Value coming up on Thursday from Nails Inc! This six-piece set comes beautifully presented in a silver glitter pouch, making it the perfect gift for yourself or others. The collection includes five full size nail polish shades only available at QVC and the Kensington Caviar Top Coat. It’s also available to buy right now if you just can’t wait until Thursday!
The nail polish shades include a creamy nude, violet-cream, midnight blue with a shimmer shine, rose-pink metallic foil and a glitter with electric silver sparkles. Of course, no manicure is complete without a top coat. Nails Inc are known for their speedy manicures and their 45 Second Top Coat with Kensington Caviar has been specially formulated for anyone who demands instant results. The effect on the nails is a super glossy, professional wet look so that nails look salon fresh. This incredible formula increases the wear of your nail polish by adding chip resistance that seals in colour.
Here are those wonderful colours… I like the names, gets me in the dance floor mood for the festive season:
- Sound Of Sequins – a glitter shade tightly packed full of confetti electric silver sparkles
- Racy and Retro – 1970s cult classic, a beautiful rose pink metallic foil polish. THE party shade to get noticed in!
- Throwing Shapes – a brilliant midnight blue base with an iridescent shimmer shine
- Saturday Night In – a gently pigmented violet cream shade, the ultimate pamper polish
- Make an Understatement – a full coverage creamy nude, the perfect shade for every day
The value is brilliant, too. If you were to buy five nail polishes and a base coat individually from Nails Inc you’d pay £90. So to get this 6 piece collection for a Today’s Special Value price of just £26.98 plus P&P is utterly unmissable! Not to mention that it’s available in easy payments too. Woohoo!!!
It’s obviously a gorgeous set as a self purchase plus it doesn’t break the bank so no guilt necessary if it’s a treat for you. As for gifting though, this would tick many boxes at once. You could keep one or two and gift the others as stocking fillers or split it into sets of two for a bigger pressie. When you consider what you’re saving it makes sense even if it’s not for Christmas but general gifting, too.
I’m sure you’ll have all been made aware of our current voucher promotion. If not, click here to see how there are even more benefits to doing your Christmas shopping with us at QVC!
Ok, I got a bit excited about those beauties… but they are fab as you’ll see when they make their debut at midnight tonight into Thursday. Remember if you want to snap up the collection ahead of the rush, you can buy it online right now with the same fantastic value.
The run up to Christmas not only means getting ready to party but there’s the food to think about, too. Many of us make mention of a lady called Jo who is our on-air Kitchen Manager. She is responsible for, amongst many other things, coordinating all the goings on behind the scenes of our kitchen shows. She is very well-loved and has become a friend to many of us.
Jo is no vegan. She says she never will be, either. She has taken an interest in the fact I’ve become one, though, and regularly gives me a heads up on the latest vegan brands we have on board at the Q. She’s been more than impressed with how good the alternatives are.
We’ve been chatting together about doing some vegan recipes as I’ve been suggesting some options to QVC for our programming to cater for those on a plant-based diet. Jo has worked in professional kitchens now for pretty much all of her working life. She has a real passion for what she does.
I was delighted when Jo suggested we go to a food show at London’s ExCel Centre together. It was ‘Food Matters Live’ and covered many aspects of food from natural colourings, to Welsh produce, packaging innovations and technology. Amidst all of this we found some familiar faces. Beech’s Chocolates, Prime Fifty and Rubies in the Rubble were featured.
The latter having won an award at the show. Their aquafaba vegan mayonnaise is delicious. Jo is totally won over by that. I mix it with a little English mustard to make a dip for sweet potato wedges.
Andrew and I are holding up his vegan range of choccies! Great if you’re looking for presents for plant munchers, like me, who may be harder to buy for.
Jo and I sampled lots of cheese… all of it vegan! There were cream cheeses, rinded ones, veined and even feta alternatives. They were stunning. Jo and I really want to get some of these companies onto QVC. We’ve already had a word in the buyers’ ears so watch this space!
Not only cheese, though… chocolate! Lots of yummy, healthy chocolate was consumed. We had quinoa pate, samosas, and more than I can even remember now.
One of the best was the ‘butter’ we tried. Now I’ve tried a lot of vegan spreads/butter alternatives but this one was the most butter-like I’ve ever had the good fortune to sample! We were both astounded that it wasn’t actually butter! We have simply GOT to get this on our shows!
We were quite footsore by the end of the day so we finished off with a nice meal, a glass of wine for me and a shandy for Jo. We came away with lots of great food inspiration and had a really good time getting out there and seeing the direction the food industry is taking now. People are far more open to trying new things.
We like experimenting and coming up with new ways of making traditional foods. Nuts to make cheeses being one of the most impressive.
I hope to put some new recipes up very soon, especially useful if you’re having vegans (as guests, not to eat) for dinner this Christmas.
Thanks for stopping by for a read. I’m off to try out some more colours from that TSV! I’ll catch you later.
Love Catherine xx
