Dolphin trip, grandbaby update and big beauty deals

2

Very much enjoyed last weekend with my kids and their kids. How weird to say that, still getting used to it 🙂 Went on a huge day out, involving the following…
A boat trip at New Quay in Wales, looking for dolphins. Whenever I have gone previously, I have never found any. Whenever my son-in-law has gone in the past, he has always found them. Guess whose run of luck continued… yes, zero dolphins appeared! But we did find a lobster and it was very weird, holding a live little one. They are put back at the end of the day and apparently they quite like being in the lobster pot, as they are safe from predators. Sometimes they find the same one goes back in over and over again ha ha. We saw guillemots and the heads of a couple of seals bobbing up and down too, about 100m away. But zero dolphins… next time…

The babies liked the seaside and the boat. Blake, who is now 18-months-old, was dancing backwards and forwards as we rode a few waves but it was quite calm apart from that, and little Phoebe, who is now 10-months-old, just wanted to get down and walk around 🙂 We then went to Aberaeron for lunch in the lovely quayside hotel restaurant. The babies were happily asleep for quite a big part of the meal 🙂

On the way home, we went via the honey farm where Blake found out about bees and saw the exhibition of honeycomb with a live colony of bees buzzing in and out behind glass. Just like the buzzy, buzzy bee in my song that made an appearance in one of my Facebook vlogs this week (check it out below.) Ha ha. Three verses now and counting! Seriously, very interesting to see all about the colonies and here’s an interesting fact… it takes a bee a trip the equivalent of three orbits around the Earth to make 1kg of honey.

That night after the babies went to sleep, we all had a nice dinner, watched a good film, and woke up early the next morning to come home, as we then went to a big family celebration in Surrey, which was very satisfying as you’ll see below.

A good weekend overall and next weekend I will be back in Wales with all the family for Lauren’s big 30th birthday! Hurray!

Snippets

Family reunion

Had a lovely get together with the sisters of my late dad, now in their 80s, and some of my cousins on my dad’s side. We are going to try to organise a big get together in November, so watch this space. I’m excited to get some pictures into the ancestry album for posterity 🙂 I love all that stuff. Hugs to cousins Pat, Sue, Christina, aunties Angela, Eileen, Jean, Uncle Dick, and of course my mum Lesley and sister Linda.

Raspberries

Very pleased that one of my little raspberry bushes is sprouting fruit, hopefully lots more in years to come. I took this picture while I was relaxing in the hot tub down in Devon this week. I don’t get to do it very often, it’s not like being on holiday. I do between 13,000 and 15,000 steps a day working and looking after guests, and this week we had to do the tea room as well, as Patricia the lovely tea room lady was poorly. But it’s nice when it happens 🙂

Dyson surprise

I could not believe it this week when I replaced the filter inside the air purifier version of the Dyson fan, which sits in my kitchen and utility room in Devon for the first time. Isn’t this disgusting! It’s everything that has been extracted from the air around us – it means we’re not breathing this stuff in! The technology is obviously brilliant, and here is a link to everything we have in stock at the moment. We have a Dyson project coming up soon as a big offer, and hopefully the hairdryer will be back too.

Watch

It is all about kids movies at the moment and I haven’t really watched much TV at all. I started the film Body of Lies with Leonardo DiCaprio, but did not finish it as I was so tired! So instead, how about watching this vlog? Go here to see the pretty flowers in my side garden, and help me out with some of the flower names. Also a little verse from the buzzy, buzzy bee song 🙂 three verses and counting 🙂

Book of the week

Eleanor Olliphant is Completely Fine

I am so, so, so enjoying this audiobook! So many people have been talking about it for so long, I kind of avoided it as I hate to have my opinion apprehended! But I must admit, it is excellent. So much subtext, and a really compelling character with secrets I want to find out more about. Highly recommended for this summer if you are looking for a very different, but very good book.

Blooper

Sometimes the sets we work with just won’t behave!

Next week on QVC

MondayPowerfit Vibrating Fitness Plate with resistance bands.

TuesdayChurchill’s Confectionery return with a set of two tins with biscuits, delicious biscuits at that! We had four tins left in our presenter lounge and they lasted only about three days 🙂 good ideas for gifts and keepsake tins as well.

WednesdayNiod return after a long break with the four-piece Concentrated Skincare collection, you may well see it on our social media at the beginning of the week.

ThursdayWomen with Control are back with Tummy Control prime stretch denim ankle trousers in different lengths.

FridayKipling means a whole day with the lovely Marie Francoise Wolff as she brings us the premium large cross-body bag called Avaros.

Next week

A weekend with my lovely niece Beki staying in the same house, plus a lovely yoga week down in Devon. And not long to go until my daughters 30th. How on earth did that happen… have a great week.

Best wishes,

Debbie
