Autumn trundles on, and it’s now only nine weeks until Christmas… oh heck, how did that happen? I do love this season though, and one of the highlights of my year, at home in Gloucestershire is the October Cheltenham Literature Festival, which I always try to get to. This year we went for a whole day and saw three different speakers. Being foodies (I can’t cook but I LOVE eating!) we couldn’t miss a tapas lunch with Spanish chef Jose Pizarro, who was chatting about his new book of Catalonian recipes, followed by Nigella Lawson being interviewed about her latest cookbook. Then the day was finished off perfectly with an absolutely hilarious hour with Sarah Millican, who was interviewed by the brilliant Emma Kennedy. I’ve dropped subtle hints to hubby that I’d love Sarah’s book ‘How to be Champion’, which is a combined autobiography/self-help book, in my Christmas stocking, so fingers crossed!
Now remember I told you earlier this year that I sponsored a guide dog? She’s called Hattie and she’s my pet substitute – I would absolutely adore a cat or a dog but it just wouldn’t be fair as hubby and I are both out at work for such long hours every day. Well I’ve just had my latest update from Guide Dogs and a new photo – she’s just gorgeous, doing really well with her training and growing up fast, look!I think its fab that you get these regular updates and pictures – I have them all pinned to my noticeboard at home. I know lots of other people sponsor her too but I do sort of think of her as a little bit “my” dog which is just lovely.
Still on the charity theme, at work my QVC director colleague and friend Teresa and I have just held another joint fundraising event for our respective charities – Headway, the brain injury charity, which I support in memory of my sister, and ACLT, the African-Caribbean Leukaemia Trust, which Teresa supports in memory of her long-term partner. We did a big lucky dip, raffle and cake sale (SUCH yummy cakes!) and raised hundreds of pounds, thanks to our wonderful colleagues who donated, baked, ate and dipped! Everyone at QVC is so generous and supportive and we really do thank them from the bottom of our hearts – these charities are so important to us and it’s just wonderful that they are among those QVC is supporting during 2017, so thank you, everyone! You rock. Finally this week a sneaky peek for you at the Lola Rose Today’s Special Value that’s coming up this Friday the 27th. It’s actually not a piece of jewellery this time but an infinity scarf, and here’s a picture of myself and Chloe Everton getting a little bit excited about it!It comes in six different prints – my blue one has little horses on it – and is at an amazing price. In fact, it’s the lowest ever price for a Lola Rose Today’s Special Value, so you may be tempted to buy more than one…!
That’s it for now, stay warm and have a great week.
Love Jackie x
