How are we all feeling? Sluggish, fed up, larger than we were before maybe? Stay tuned as I may have just the pick me up you need… something fabulous for nothing? Ooh, now has that piqued your interest. I shall reveal all in a mo.
It’s a tough one, January, isn’t it? In fact September feels more of a new start time for me than January, after all we are just continuing with the same cold mizzy weather and wearing the same stuff we were wearing for the last few months. Whereas September is a change in season, in clothes and of course for many of us, a change in school years therefore ALL we are doing and being is different.
That said, I’m on it… I actually am! In that I’m trying to shed some excess, and be more “in it”, this wonderful life we have and are lucky enough to be living. I have indeed shed some pounds, got out and walked Gus more and am popping lovely treats in my diary to look ahead to. Today’s was seeing The Greatest Showman at the cinema… it is unbelievable. I absolutely LOVED it (is there any way other than capital letters to let you know how much I loved it!) Luckily I also have a trip to Amsterdam in my sights with my gorgeous friends Anna and Nance, we are the trio of mummies who were brought together by our spectacular “special” boys. Life changed forever for us back then in 2001 and this summer the unthinkable happened… Jacob died. My wonderful friend and her entire family are truly remarkable, as was their son Jacob who will be in our thoughts and hearts forever as we try to be there and support them as best we can.
As Anna turned 50 last year we felt it the perfect opportunity to be together, just the three of us in such a beautiful and interesting place, with time to talk endlessly, cry endlessly, reminisce and make some new memories together. I shall be fulfilling a long held dream, to visit The Anne Frank Museum. I was totally captured by her story so many years ago at school, though I think it will be an emotional place to visit. Let’s hope the weather is kind so we can appreciate all Amsterdam has to offer, do you have any suggestions for me of what not to miss?
I was given a great book at Christmas called “Ice Cream for Breakfast” by Laura Jane Williams which tells me to get in touch with my inner child (to be childlike not childish I hasten to add). Oh, it is good, it’s making me laugh and think YESSSSSS! There are some superb findings within its pages and I’m looking forward to putting some of it into practice.
A fantastic and thought-provoking phrase was shared with me today by a friend and I thought it was too good not to share, so here it is for you all.
Negativity sticks to us like Velcro and positivity slips away like silk…
Crikey doesn’t that make you think? And in so many ways this massively resonated. We always remember the negative bit someone did or said don’t we, but those lovely parts – just as this saying goes – simply swiftly slip away. Apparently it’s in our make up that we are programmed to think this way, something to do with protecting ourselves and the survival instinct or something. I decided I wanted to bring a burst of positivity which hopefully does NOT slip away like silk! And a splash of colour to uplift your spirits during this tricky month so I persuaded the “powers that be” to let me give you the opportunity to win this stunning leather bag (you see I told you it was worth waiting for).
It’s a beautiful Ashwood large tote bag, secured with a top zip closure, capacious, stylish and worth £69. Now what more could a busy girl need, except to get it for… nothing. Well it could be yours, simply by answering a question I shall pose at the end of my blog. Just leave your answer in the comments section (and a comment if you fancy of course!) You have until 9am on Wednesday 24th January to enter. I shall task the social media team to randomly select a winner to be announced later that day. I chose the Raspberry colour (there are some other lovely choices of colour available on 25th January when it is the Today’s Special Value) but for me the Raspberry is just the ticket for bringing a smile, brightening a dull day, and adding a certain flair to your look. Full terms and conditions for the competition can be found here.
I’ve popped it with my Onjenu dress, Clarks boots, and my Helene Berman navy velvet jacket; the bag just completed the look. If you love to elegantly co-ordinate then there is a gorgeous matching wallet also in the day, though be warned they tend to sell out rather swiftly.
Actually it’s a week of lovely things as Marble is our featured Today’s Special Value two days before, on Tuesday 23rd, with a super comfy cotton top. Lyn has placed a lovely button detail which draws the eye in superbly, a slight batwing 3/4 length sleeve and again such lovely colour choices. The Pale Pink is super pretty but I know the Navy will be so useful too. Marble brings lots of cotton tops to us at QVC which I know are so appreciated and will be a perfect weight to enjoy now, and as spring springs, which it will…I promise! Remember that positivity!
So here’s my question to be in with a chance to win the bag:
What does negativity stick to us like? Is it
B- A plaster
Good luck everyone, and let’s stay upbeat, and try to throw positivity around like glitter this January!
Lots of love,
